Now the Climateers Want Your Tires. Washington state pols want to ban wheels that are safest on the road.

Progressives spent last year torturing home cooks by threatening gas stoves and dishwashers in pursuit of energy efficiency. Now the climate brigade is going after drivers. A new bill in Washington state would give regulators the ability to ban tires that create a drag on fuel efficiency.

The proposal would give the state Department of Commerce authority to prevent the sale of replacement tires that the state says have too much “rolling resistance,” which decreases the fuel efficiency of the vehicles. Rolling resistance depends largely on the weight and depth of a tire tread, the grippy thick part that keeps you from sliding off the road in a storm.

Washington state isn’t Arizona, and even Seattle progressives need their Outbacks to get safely to the Cascades. The deeper the tread, the stronger and heavier the tire is. This means the car gets fewer miles per gallon, but it also means drivers will have a better grip on the road. The bill would cover all replacement tires for cars and light trucks up to 10,000 pounds.

The proposed legislation says the new standards “may not adversely affect tire safety or tire longevity as demonstrated by the independent testing of wet grip or traction.” That’s a good caveat, but if the new standards aren’t going to reduce safety and grippiness, why does the next section create an exemption for snow tires? The biggest difference between snow tires and regular tires is the depth and pattern of the tread.

The bill says adopting the new standards “could result in an approximate cumulative reduction of 600,000,000 gallons of gasoline and 1,500 gigawatt hours of electricity” between 2026 to 2035.

It climate-mongers had their way,

the world would revert back to the stone ages.

“What I find is that when “Climate Change” is discussed globally Xi and Putin aren’t challenging that. They go along with it.”

Maybe with narrative but not with action.

The US treats Russia and China like Germany and Japan right before December 7, 1941.

How they choose to respond is on them.

Because they know it weakens the West.

Xi and Putin are well aware that the climate change hustle is non-scientific BS. They play along because now China makes a mint off green materials and selling solar panels to the idiot West ; Russia makes a mint selling oil to the other countries who are smart enough to stick with oil for their economic development.

I have summer tires on one vehicle where the rolling resistance is inversely proportional to the temperature. Below 55 they get noticeably less traction and I don’t drive the vehicle at all below 45. I can personally testify that too little rolling resistance is first like driving on a wet road and then like driving on ice. Anecdote from one of the service managers at Hendrik Chevrolet: salesman took a customer out for a test drive in a Z06 with Michelin sport cup tires and a temp of 35F. Service manager told the salesman to be very careful because of the temp effect on the tires. Within sight of the dealership the car managed a couple of 360 degree spins, but luckily managed not to hit anything. Customer ratted the salesman out. Salesman got fired.

It has another advantage that will further the agenda of increasing the mortality rate.

Less traction needed for braking and handling safety will increase fatalities substantially.

It is physically impossible to decrease rolling resistance without giving up traction.

The Federal government has been doing this to car manufacturers for decades.
It’s the reason you drive a overpriced piece of shit.

Trump needs to create an “anti-idiot” committee to keep watch over things like this and throw whoever is trying to make people’s lives more miserable in prison for a year or 2 until they get it through their thick skull that being an idiot, an angry jealous idiot who wants to make everyone but themselves miserable, is no way to go through life

She did. The authors of the Bible pretty much nailed it, too. Fallen human nature is not pretty thing, and those in power have zero awareness that a.) they are fallen, and b.) that as result, they might just be blind.

They got the sheeple to drink the cool aid of climate fraud. It will never be fixed because it can never be scientifically dis proven (or scientifically proven) since the forces at work are Solar System Astronomy and geologic, not meteorologic, meaning that in 300,000 years someone will know it was fraud.

I will drive wherever I need to to get the best tires I want. Idaho, for example.

I learned many years ago to NEVER buy a tire (e.g., Goodyear) whose name ended with an “A” (like Arriva). Shallow tread, slick as snot in the rain and tires spin way to easily on take off.

I remember housewives fifty years ago, with nothing to do but look for things that “caused pollution.”
One started screaming about road salts on icy roads, another screamed about burning used Christmas trees, and another started screaming about rubber from tires polluting the roads. As one man said, the bacteria eat the tire residue, and proof was we do not have piles of rubber from tires piled by the roads.

“ Now the climate brigade is going after drivers.”

I’ve got an idea. What if drivers went after the climate brigade.
I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve had it up to here with the “climate brigade”.

I am always amazed (not in a good way) at the “creativity” the progressive mind has in finding ways to control human activity.

The intent here, of course, is to drive up the cost of tires for gasoline vehicles to match that of EVs

EVs burn through tires very quickly.

Thinner tread$ will wear out even fa$ter!
