AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS
An Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which would be true and appropriate in all times and in all situations. They presented him with the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! Abraham Lincoln in an address before the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society in Milwaukee - 30 September 1859

A very pleasant good Sunday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.
Yesterday at Comanche Lake:

We also had ribs for supper.

How's everyone doing this morning?

It was very unnerving letting any of the cats stay outside but Hubby insisted. We did have a lot more cats back then. But when Sapphire, his favorite, disappeared that was the end of that. They all came inside, much to my relief.
Glad it’s still raining there. You need it. It looks like you’ll get a bit more too.
Yes, it’s still raining here and will for a few more hours. There was 1.7 inch in the gauge when I dumped it a little while ago.
It was 40 at Anchorage this afternoon but I’d say it isn’t now. It’s snowing.

I’m glad he let you bring them inside. I know you spent many hours worrying about them.
Tux was just out back a bit ago when I went to let Peaches out and check on the rain. I wonder if he’s just visiting. He has got to have a home. No way could he have survived this long without someone feeding him. Unless he just sneaked around when I was asleep. He had gotten to where he enjoyed a skritch on his head, so surely he didn’t decide he didn’t like it after all. We’ll see.
I’m going to finish this show and head out. I’ll hate myself in the morning if I don’t go soon. See ya tomorrow!

Yep, I think we might be able to do the lake today before the winter weather comes. We’ll see.

I worried about them day and night. I wish he would have caved to having them inside before we lost so many sweeties.
Nice to hear Tux was back again. There’s no telling what the stinker has been up to. LOL
Sleep well and be kind to your alarm in the morning. Catch ya tomorrow.

I hope you CAN get out there before that weather arrives. I noticed the winter storm warnings are due west of you tonight and moving your way. I hope it doesn’t get to bad when it reaches your area.

When I went out to feed the ducks about 4 hours ago, I scraped the last little bits of snow off the deck. It is now all white...maybe a half inch, and still coming down VERY gently. And my mailbox is white again. Temp is hovering at freezing.
My phone says days til next weekend will be above freezing...nights in the mid to low 20s. *sigh*

It doesn’t take long for it to add up, does it? At least you’re getting light snow and not a blizzard like before. It’s stopped at the airports but I can see it’s still coming down over in your direction.
Your next week sounds a lot like what we deal with during winter. Days above freezing, nights below freezing, and any precip will turn to a glaze of ice overnight. Fortunately here, it only lasts a day or two but you have a LOT of snow that will melt, freeze, melt, freeze. Wrecker services and insurance companies are going to be busy the next week.

Well, darn. You got to see your actual deck for a few hours and now it’s disappeared again. I guess it’s what one expects in Alaska, but I know you’re more than ready for it to go away. Especially if you have to get out in it. Stay safe and warm!
