The artist was escorted out of the venue with his hands cuffed behind his back, sparking a heated debate on social media. Many users criticized the Grammys for allowing such an incident to occur and questioned the circumstances surrounding the rapper's arrest.
According to the Daily Mail, Mike made headlines as he was escorted away from the Grammys in handcuffs following an alleged 'physical altercation' after winning three awards.
The acclaimed rapper from 'Run The Jewels' won big at the Grammys, taking home Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance for 'Scientists & Engineers', and Best Rap Album for 'Michael'.
As per the Daily Mail, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department informed them that an adult male, without confirming his identity, was undergoing questioning. Subsequently, TMZ revealed that he had been booked for battery on a citizen's arrest.
The LAPD spokesperson stated, "At 4 pm, an adult male was taken into custody for a physical altercation that took place inside the arena. Right now, the preliminary investigation is: he is being investigated for battery."
The spokesperson emphasized that the individual would not be identified until arrested and charged. TMZ reported an altercation involving Killer Mike and a security guard moments before his arrest.
Video footage obtained by TMZ captured the rapper engaging in a heated exchange with security guards while walking in the rain, with someone holding an umbrella over his head. The clip indicated that Killer Mike knocked down a security guard as he attempted to leave.
The rapper seemed determined to bypass the security team, leading to a dispute where he pushed a security guard on the shoulder while trying to maneuver around him.
According to TMZ, shortly after this incident, the rapper was seen being handcuffed. Killer Mike was brought back into the arena for questioning, prompting someone to shout, "Free Mike!" As of now, the rapper has not issued a statement regarding the arrest.
Internet says Killer Mike's arrest seems 'fishy' A user said, "I don't what happened here, but, Will Smith assaulted someone on live television and then went to a dance party. Looks fishy."
