Mulvaney: If it’s about the economy, Biden can win; if Father Time decides, it’s a different story
The Hill ^ | 02/06/2024 | MICK MULVANEY

President Joe Biden had some good economic news last week. The American economy added 353,000 new jobs, nearly twice what many people predicted. Previous months’ job gains were also revised upward, and for a change, it wasn’t government jobs that were leading the advances. Wages grew faster than expected. Consumer spending was strong.

Simply put, they were really, really good economic numbers.

Biden also had some horrible political news last week. A new poll had his overall approval rating at 37 percent, the lowest of his term. He trailed former President Donald Trump by 20 points on who was best able to handle the economy; the gap was more than 30 points on the issue of controlling the border. Trump even leads Biden by 16 points on who is more “competent and effective.”

Simply put, they were really, really horrid numbers.

Mulvaney is a retard.

I had occasion once to meet Mick Mulvaney. He came across as about as sleazy as I had anticipated.

Who believes numbers coming from any Fedgov agency under the Biden administration? Given the weaponization of agencies, “I” take any such numbers with a shaker full of salt.

“it adds NOTHING to the GDP.”

They are a big DRAG on the real economy because all the government people do nothing but block and regulate the hell out of real production. Meet g government requirements costs the economy hundreds of billions every year.

Unfortunately, that government spending gets counted in GDP. If the accounting were honest, they would show a million dollars of government employees COSTING the real economy HUNDREDS of millions.

There is a horrific negative multiplier. It never gets accounted for

I just jumped at the opportunity to buy gas at only a dollar more per gallon than did on January 19, 2021. Eggs are finally only $1.50 more per dozen than they were n that date.

Just about everything else that went up drastically is still up. This economy sucks?

Convincing people other than hard-core Democrats that the economy is in good shape will be a very tough sell.

Who believes numbers coming from any Fedgov agency under the Biden administration? And Clinton. And obama. And Carter.

Dem admins “numbers” are always revised downwards after the initial release

They’re not “migrants”. They’re illegal aliens, criminals who broke our immigration laws. Everyone of them should spend some time in jail before being deported. Preferably to someplace like Pitcarn Island, Midway, Bikini Atoll or Antartica.
