Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Monifa McKnight said in a statement Monday she was asked by school board members last week to “step away” from her post.
McKnight said the board didn’t give a justification for its request and hadn’t communicated concern about her performance — and she said she would fight the attempt to oust her. (See backstory below)
“For these reasons, I’m concerned that its actions are based on something other than my performance, which would constitute a violation of my contract,” McKnight said. “I will defend my reputation and my decades-long commitment to the students and families of MCPS, and will demand that any considerations of my role as superintendent are made through a fair, legitimate, and legal process — anything less would be unacceptable.” …

The Post story, which documented 18 complaints about sexual harassment, bullying and retaliation by Beidleman submitted to MCPS over seven years. During that time, MCPS treated Beidleman like a rising star and promoted him to be principal of Paint Branch High School in June.

HOW ABOUT MARYLAND/BALTIMORE KIDS CANNOT READ/WRITE/DO MATH AND HAVE NO SKILLS FOR THE WORKING WORLD?????
Remember, the principal is your pal.
I grew up in Mont. Co. in the 60’s and 70’s. The educational system then was exceptional.
It's now woke.
What’s the situation with her contract? Presumably she can be dismissed by the Board of Education? If she wants to air it out in the media, rather than quietly exiting, she will get her publicity.
Another Affirmative Action underperformer....
I also grew up in Montgomery County in those decades. I have not been back to visit in many years, but hear things have changed there.
“… MARYLAND/BALTIMORE KIDS CANNOT READ/WRITE/DO MATH AND HAVE NO SKILLS…”
The new governor there, Wes Moore, who seems like a smart, nice guy, said today that he wanted Maryland to be “a top-ten state in education.” Good luck with that, buddy.
I left in 1992, went back once in 2007 and couldn’t find my way around. My family is now all back on the Eastern Shore living on a farm that hasn’t changed much since the 40’s.
GUILTY!
That does not matter because they will be loyal Democrat voters.
Joel Beidleman is a black principal sexual harassed.
Was hard to find his pic in leftist publications.
Looks like there are 2 problem children. Both black. Both needing to be removed.
Thank you...
It’s a woman
WAPost report: As interim superintendent, McKnight presided over the district as it was engulfed in turmoil when winter break ended and the omicron variant was surging. Worried parents and teachers wanted coronavirus testing to precede a return to school, which did not happen. Others asked for the option of temporary remote learning, which was eventually allowed. Her administration stumbled as it navigated the crisis, starting with one approach, halting it after state officials objected, then moving on to another. McKnight apologized to the community at one point, saying she was sorry for any stress caused by problems in communication about changing covid guidelines, disruptions from bus staffing shortages, and snow closures and delays.
As the upheaval went on, the teachers union voted no confidence in how the school board and McKnight were managing the surge, and the union for administrators and principals sent a letter saying the system lacked an effective plan and had “never been in such a crisis state.”
Afterward, the issue of race was raised by Black pastors who alleged in a sharply worded letter that McKnight was being vilified in a political attempt to destroy a professionally qualified woman of color. They said a string of county and union leaders appeared to be using backdoor politics to publicly discredit her — a charge that the leaders rejected.
