Joseph Tacopina, the trial lawyer on Donald J. Trump’s legal team with the most successes defending high-profile clients, will no longer represent the former president in his criminal trial in Manhattan, according to a notice sent to the court on Monday.
Mr. Tacopina also withdrew on Monday from another case in which he was still legally representing Mr. Trump: an appeal of the verdict in a lawsuit brought by the writer E. Jean Carroll. Mr. Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation last year and was ordered to pay Ms. Carroll $5 million.
It was not clear why Mr. Tacopina decided to withdraw, and he declined to comment.
...... Snip.....
He has represented high-profile clients ranging from the Fox News host Sean Hannity, who on his show called Mr. Tacopina one of the “greatest defense attorneys of all time,” to the former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez and the rapper A$AP Rocky.
But the former president was Mr. Tacopina’s biggest client to date. When the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, charged Mr. Trump last year, Mr. Tacopina accompanied Mr. Trump to his arraignment.
The lawyer Todd Blanche also represents Mr. Trump, and it is unclear who else might sign on to the case.
The withdrawals came a day before jury selection is set to begin in a second trial stemming from the allegations brought by Ms. Carroll, who accused Mr. Trump of raping her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s.
Mr. Trump recently told The New York Times that he wanted to testify in the new trial, and that Mr. Tacopina had advised him against doing so in the first one — a decision the former president said he regretted.

The deep state knows a Trump election win is inevitable, so legally they will take out everyone he depends on. The Rudy Rule.
I always thought of Tacopina as a “celebrity lawyer,” not a serious one.
I think he withdrew to STALL the trials because of election!!…When an attorney withdraws it gives the defendant time to hire and bring NEW attorney up to date!!
“Mr. Trump recently told The New York Times that he wanted to testify in the new trial...”
When the client proposes a better legal strategy than their counsel, it is time to hire a new attorney.
Trump can become very blunt when someone has done something he didn’t like the results of. Maybe Trump is blaming his $400K (E. Jean Carroll) court costs fine on Attorney Tacopina, who doesn’t want to endure his dissatisfied client’s wrath any longer.
It’s too bad the law is more about process than justice.
It’s also too bad so many lawyers are needed to wade through the mountains of judicial BS.
He does look and sound like a mobster, but he is highly regarded all around. He has declined to comment “at this time.”
This sounds like very bad news, but he was part of a team, and maybe he is just cut out to be a one man show, so he cut out. I wish the remaining ones well. Important work to be done.
Any lawyer who makes his reputation on the front page and gossip pages of the NYC tabloid newspapers is not someone I would hire for a serious legal matter. He always seemed like more of a spokesman or PR guy than a lawyer to me.
He had actually been arguing against Trump, in public, prior to Trump hiring him originally...

For Sure. Lawyers beget lawyering. Over and over ...
“I always thought of Tacopina as a “celebrity lawyer,” not a serious one.”
Agree
Yes, he does come off as a bull artist, but I thought he was most famous for winning cases, which is important. Maybe it’s all for the best that he flew the coop.

It's never an odd time for a Trump attorney to be withdrawing. They do it all the time.
Whoah, Nellie. That has echoes of Michael Avenatti.
Farewell, Mr. Tacopina.
Esq.
Over the years, the clients I recognize have included Nauman Hussain in the infamous Schoharie limousine crash (he was found guilty) and Jordan Van Der Sloot (in the Natalie Holloway case).
What’s to set straight? He quit. He gave no specific reason.
“This is it! We’ve got him now!”
Lather, rinse, repeat...
Idiots
Yeah, I did a little digging ... quite a list. But, then, Hunter Biden and even OJ have/had expensive counsel, lol.
He was most likely threatened in some form or fashion.
