Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) said NBC’s “Meet the Press” that it bothered her former President Donald Trump called those convicted and jailed for their actions on January 6, 2021 “hostages.”
Anchor Kristen Welker said, “I want to stay on this topic of hostages. Donald Trump has gotten a lot of attention for labeling those who are serving time for the January 6 attack as hostages. You obviously know the difference between those convicted of crimes related to January 6 and hostages. Does it bother you that Donald Trump is using that language?”

I do wonder if other people arrested that day (not affiliated with J6) and who were denied bail have been waiting as long?
I don’t understand why they were not provided the opportunity for bail. But the delays in court dates are more a demonstration of the “justice” system in this country. That doesn’t make them “hostages.” It makes “not special.”

It looks to me like it could be a set up: the topic is hostages in Gaza, and then a sudden pivot to Jan 6th. Ernst calls Trump’s comment bothersome, because he wants to get back to what she was there to talk about.
If you’re here at freerepublic, you may think: automatically defend Donald Trump. If you’re a politician you have calculations and assessment to make that you can’t make on the spot.
Because they can't. They ignore it all together, either because they know its wrong and win't admit it, or worse, are all for it and pretend otherwise to mislead others.
