Five days after Deobra Redden leaped over the bench to attack a Las Vegas judge, he stood before the same woman — only this time, the 30-year-old’s wrists were chained to his body while court officers stood on each side of him.
With added security, Redden’s sentence hearing resumed Monday, and Judge Mary Kay Holthus sentenced Redden to 19 to 48 months in prison on a previous charge of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm.
Redden faces 13 new charges following the courtroom attack, which was captured on video that has been viewed more than 105 million times. Holthus said the incident did not affect Monday’s decision.
“Any other issues that may arise from the events that occurred last Wednesday will be handled at a future date by a different court,” Holthus said in the courtroom, according to a video of the hearing by KSNV. “For purposes of the record, I want to make it clear that I am not changing or modifying the sentence I was in the process of imposing last week before I was interrupted by defendant’s actions.”

He was chained around his waist with his hands chained at his sides-—with MITTENS on his hands & wearing a SPIT MASK.
13 charges means at least 15 years, if he is sentenced for them consecutively.
That was quite a leap. How many style points did the judge give him?
He really went after her.
Gender dysphoria in the first sentence?
Perhaps I am not fit to be a judge.
But her reluctance to alter her planned sentencing in light of his attempted assault seems like a poor choice to me.
I think he should get maximum everything if he thinks assaulting a judge in a courtroom is how he wants to address his problems.
I don’t know, but that truly was impressive.
I’m going to have to give him a 9.9 for style.
A 9.9 for effort.
A 9.9 for form.
A 1.1 for sticking the landing.
And
A -8.9 for brains
He will probably get additional charges for the attack in the court.
The idea is that each crime should be considered on its own by someone who does not have a conflict of interest.
In his defense, she was asking for it for being lenient with him so many times.

“ Gender dysphoria in the first sentence?”
I read that first part 5 times. I don’t read past a roadblock like that.
“””He was chained around his waist with his hands chained at his sides-—with MITTENS on his hands & wearing a SPIT MASK.”””
This was a good message to send to other criminals facing sentences that they too could be hauled into court looking like Deborah.
Well, we can all be thankful that I have no role in such things, because I would not handle it properly.
My view is that courts should seek justice. And violent people with no impulse control should be locked up for a long, long time. But I understand that the game is supposed to be played differently — we do not seek justice. We seek other things.
As the judge said in the article, punishment for his attack will be handled by another judge.
“””I think he should get maximum everything if he thinks assaulting a judge in a courtroom is how he wants to address his problems.”””
This sentence was for the crimes committed months ago. Deborah will be tried later for assaulting the judge.
a liberal so stupid, even getting mugged wont change her behavior
Altering her planned sentencing would have been solid grounds for him to appeal the sentence, and may even have been grounds for him to have the charges against him for his assault on her dismissed. This is exactly why she went to great lengths to state clearly that his assault on her didn’t change her sentencing.
She can’t alter the sentence for one crime based on his actions in a second crime that hasn’t yet been adjudicated in a court of law. The evidence against him in the second case is irrefutable and damning, but he IS still considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

It would have been shorter to just type “Joe Biden” :)
