President Donald Trump declared the Republican Party was done with the likes of Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah and former Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan on Saturday, pointing out that the MAGA movement had rescued conservatism from “RINOs.”

Trump explained at an electric rally in Newton, Iowa, “Together, we fought long and hard to rescue the Republican Party from the likes of Mitt Romney.”

He continued, “No chance we’re going to let them claw their way back into the power of our party!”

President Trump added, “Get RID of these establishment career politicians who have sold you down the river.”

He told Iowans that America couldn’t afford to mess around with pillars of the political establishment, highlighting the severity of the situation in the country. “We cannot play games,” he said. “We’ve got to get rid of Crooked Joe Biden.”

With less than one week to go until the Iowa caucuses, Trump took a common sense, no-nonsense approach to his remarks in Newton, stating that with a caucus victory, “We’re going to FINISH the job.”

“I will always put America first,” he vowed, promising that the job of saving America would be completed in the White House with “God’s help.”

I only disagree with his characterization of people like Mitt Romney as “RINOs.”

They aren’t RINOs. They’re Republicans to the core.

The best example of this is Climate Change and Paris Climate Accord. When, as President he withdrew from it, he showed in both specific language and his actions that he understood it was one of those things that they hate him and us for, speaking out and acting in opposition to the Leftist quest for power via their Swiss Army knife tool of tyranny, Climate Change.

If you want to see what the Republican Party was and the path it was headed down, look no further than the Tory party in Britain. They are headed to oblivion because they're filled with a bunch of milquetoast fake Conservatives who imposed unprecedented censorship, allowed the LBGTQ insanity to take off, refused to defend the border from invading 3rd world hordes, refused to allow fracking, went for zero carbon emissions insanity, refused to implement a real Brexit after the voters forced them to leave the EU, allowed the muslim rape gangs to run free victimizing native White girls, the list goes on and on. That is a valid point from a historical perspective. Nelson Rockefeller wasn't a RINO in his time, he was a liberal Republican. So were Elliot Richardson, Lowell Weicker, John Heinz, Chuck Percy, etc.

I still like the RINO term because the laws and legal decisions have been shaped over the last 150 years to make it next to impossible to replace either major party. So, we do what has been done historically, forced party realignment. It is a glacial process, and it started with Goldwater, was catalyzed with Reagan, and ascended under Trump.

I do not know if Trump will be able to make MAGA a permanent institutionalized dominant force in the party that will outlast him, but the numerous Never-Trumpers either heading to the sidelines to throw mud (Ryan, Flake, Kinzinger), just getting beaten to do same (Cheney), or outright joining the Democrats (Jeffords, Specter, Crist) tells me he is doing something right.

While Democrats don't typically use the term DINO, they most certainly read members out of the Democrat Party, even if they embrace the values that were Democrat mainstream a generation or two ago, first, the entire Dixiecrat wing is gone (George Wallace), then the pro-US labor folks (Scoop Jackson), then the financially responsible (William Proxmire), certainly the pro-life Democrats (Bob Casey Sr., Ella Grasso).

Realignment is a thing. We get to use the term RINO, and get the Romneys and the Christies on the defensive with it because we ARE the dominant force in the Republican Party, and must now assert ourselves as same, knowing full-well that there will always be folks like Lindsay Graham who will pay lip-service but not really buy in out of political necessity. Such must be tolerated to a degree, but never trusted. To such end we must be able to define MAGA principles that should be adhered to, making the term RINO is useful and accurate.

Who are you talking about? The Republican party is still full of RINOs, in fact, almost all of them are lying crooks. Trump exposed a few of them, but there are many left. The job of converting the Republican party has barely started.

They are corrupt being completely beholden to the donor class and often in bed with Democrats. Parties are ever shifting coalitions. They are not static. They do change over time.
