Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Thursday downplayed her recent remark that New Hampshire voters would “correct” the results of the Iowa caucuses, telling town hall attendees in the Hawkeye State that she was just “cutting up.”
“Oh my gosh,” Haley awkwardly sighed after receiving disapproving groans from many in the crowd at Grand View University in Des Moines when CNN host Erin Burnett brought up the gaffe.
The former South Carolina governor, however, defended her comments, arguing that people were taking the remark too seriously.

I’ll be very surprised if she is the nominee.
Nikki is a D in R clothing and is counting on many crossover votes in NH as it is an open primary which will explain her likely good showing there. But she’s a trojan horse pure and simple.
Nikki made a nothing comment. Some people are making a mountain out of a molehill.
That being true, she needs to know that every word she says will be held under a microscope and picked apart.
I took it as a jokey way of sucking up to New Hampshire voters. She must know that race will make or break her campaign. I think it’s going to put an end to her, but the New Hampshire polls are tightening up.
She was just cutting up when she retired the SC flag. Husband in military and deployed. Probably volunteered just to escape the mistake he made. Must be a strong man...most guys would have hung themselves to escape that remorseless loud mouthed harridan.
If you want to insinuate that Iowa gets it wrong, wait until AFTER Iowa has their caucus. As it stands, she was going to lose anyway but after this it could be an epic takedown for her there. Never good vibes for your campaign.
Nikki Haley is no different than Mitt Romney.
“Cutting up”...
Isn’t that more Brit English than American English?
I’ve never used it...
I used to hear it in Texas and Oklahoma when I was young. Haven’t heard it in decades. It was always pronounced “cuttin’ up”.
oh, and I can’t even picture Nimrata in Texas nor Oklahoma, lol.
(telling town hall attendees in the Hawkeye State that she was just “cutting up.”)
Please clap!
(I’ll be very surprised if she is the nominee.)
Well, the GOP Establishment likes to lose to Democrats, so.
......
She has drive and ambition. After she loses she can find more corporate boards to sit on for large money. Harvard would be a good fit.
The other usage related to that I would hear from time to time was “he/she is such a cut up.” Never just “he is a cut up”. It always had the “such” in there.
Liar. Unrustworthy. Comes across as Anti-American and wanting to replace the United States population with border crossers, crimmigrants and terrorists.
She has no qualms about insulting people that disagree with her. She called one of her competitors a scumbag in the middle of a debate.
I will not vote for her, as she also seems to think men are stupid. She insulted all men in one of the debates, and she was proud of it.
These debates have shown us who she really is. A self-centered power-hungry b*tch.
She’s not a bad person but she doesn’t do well under any kind pressure. Not a good trait for a junior assistant bookkeeper. Especially troublesome for a CEO.
“cutting up” = clueless.
It’s hard to believe that the slate of candidates for GOP POTUS are the best we can come up with.
There’s only Trump who’s viable, who has a proven record. The rest are either unqualified or retarded, or both. In the whole country, this is the best we’ve got?
