What is about Chick-fil-A that absolutely drives so many on the Left to push for its destruction via periodic spasms of boycotts (that typically fail) or imposing abusive government regulations like that proposed by New York State Assemblyman Tony Simone?
Simone is a freshman member of the Empire State's legislature, representing a district that encompasses "Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, Midtown and part of the Lincoln Center area in Manhattan," according to his official website.
For whatever reason, Simone became deeply concerned about the fact that some Sunday travelers on the New York Thruway (NYTW) might not be able to get their lunch or dinner at one of the Chick-fil-As operating Monday through Saturday at six state-managed rest stops.
"It’s Sunday, Christmas Eve … thousands of New Yorkers are traveling to their families to find restaurants at rest areas across the state. The Thruways are meant to serve New York travelers first. I think it’s ridiculous that you’re able to close on Sunday, one of the busiest travel days of the week," Simone told a local New York media outlet.
"You know, we get hungry when we’re traveling. We may not like our brother-in-law or sister-in-law’s cooking and wanna get a snack on Christmas Eve," the Democrat Assemblyman noted. "To find one of the restaurants closed on the Thruway is just not in the public good."
So Simone's bill commands Chick-fil-A to violate its own well-known practice of not opening its stores on Sundays so that employees are free to worship or not, as they choose, to spend time with their families, and get some well-deserved rest.

Even the fast food places inside of truck stops shut down the for night and have done so for decades. There just are not enough customers to make keeping them open financially beneficial.
And now with the "labor shortage" even the ones that used to stay open until midnight are closing their doors at ten.
When i have traveled on the Florida Turnpike, why are there any stores closed whenever i choose to stop? It’s totally inconvenient when the coffee/donut shops are closed, and I can’t even buy a pair of sunglasses at 10pm. I mean, it’s like the sun isn’t going to come up tomorrow.
It is none of the Lefts fn business!

You make it sound like Chick-fil-a is trying to open new restaurants when they apparently have had these select stores in the crappy state of NY at these particular areas for some time..

You realize we’re talking about seven locations on public property that the state once opened seven days a week because those locations are open seven days a week. This has nothing to do with Chick-fil-A‘s locations elsewhere in the state.

NY allowed Chick-fil-A to open locations on their Thruway all the while knowing they have a business core belief to give their employees one day rest..
It seems the problem is with the crappy state and their ignorance of the company..
Somebody thought it was okay for these locations to open ..
Nobody held a gun to NY and forced them to let Chick-fil-A open these locations did they?
NY screwed up and now, they are trying to force a company to play by rules that weren’t in force when they allowed Chick-fil-A to grace their Thruway back when the state wasn’t too choosy about who filled their disservice areas

This is the best this idiot can come up with to justify his proposed government over-reach? If you can't go a few hours without shoving food into your gullet, you have no will power whatsoever. There is not a single documented case of someone starving to death while traveling on a highway for a few hours without eating. Aren't there other food vendors at these rest stops as well?
By his logic, the government should be able to mandate the operating hours of every business. All grocery stores should be open 24-7 to allow shift workers to go food shopping. All banks should be open 24-7 to allow everyone, regardless of shift, to access in-person customer service in a bank.
This is clearly targeted towards a business that recognizes the Christian day of worship.
What this has to do with is the attack the homosexual left launched against CFA in 2021 and then got someone elected and now he is pursuing them by proposing a new law.
Stop treating Chick Fil-A as some kind of privileged religious company. They are not. And their food sucks anyway.
