The presidential election is less than a year away, and economic issues are once again top of mind for voters around the country.
Despite the economy’s rapid recovery from the pandemic, President Biden has struggled to convince Americans that his policies are improving their finances. In polls, the majority of Americans still say they trust former president Donald Trump’s handling of the economy over Biden’s.
1. Job gains The astoundingly strong labor market is arguably the White House’s biggest victory.
2. Unemployment rate Aside from a covid-fueled surge in much of 2020 and 2021, the national unemployment rate has remained low through both Trump’s and Biden’s presidencies.
3. Economic growth For the most part, the U.S. economy has expanded at a steady pace under both Trump and Biden.
4. Gas prices Presidents have very little control over gas prices. But this is one area where the Trump era was better for Americans
5. Home prices Homeownership is one of the biggest ways Americans create wealth,
6. Inflation Inflation has been a persistent challenge for the Biden administration.
7. Interest rates The president has very little power over interest rates.
8. Disposable income Americans have less spending power than they did at the beginning of Biden’s term
9. Stock market The stock market rose rapidly during Trump’s presidency and has continued its ascent under Biden.
10. Student loan debt Outstanding student loan balances have been climbing for nearly two decades — until now.
11. Consumer sentiment Despite the economy’s strength
12. Federal deficit The federal deficit peaked under Trump,

My 401k was down $250k and now it’s it’s only $100k!!!
Well, if it doesn’t contain the much lauded ‘vin’ diagrams, it doesn’t count. 😳😂👍
At any point in time, the economy has an upside with lots of opportunity, and finding that opportunity is not all that difficult.
Every time I go shopping, the overwhelming topic of conversation while in line is “why’s everything so expensive “?
Some lies you can get away with but historic inflation is not one you can lie about. Saying things are great when obviously it’s not makes these people look stupid. Americans are stupid unless it comes to their “god”…money.
Americans are stupid unless it comes to their “god”…money:
God money, I’ll do anything for you
God money, just tell me what you want me to
God money, nail me up against the wall
God money, don’t want everything he wants it all
“My 401k was down $250k and now it’s it’s only $100k!!!”
You might want to consider a new financial advisor. The NASDAQ is up 35% for 2023.
Just pick an ETF with NASDAQ stocks and that $250,000 would now be $337,000.
Aw, I wanted to see actual charts. :(
No charts, just spin, or in the immortal words of Mark Twain, “There are lies, damned lies and statistics.”
I would like to see some actual charts showing each economic metric from the beginning of Obama’s first term, through Trump’s term, to date. They would show that just about every economic measure was crap under Obama, improved dramatically during the first three years of Trump’s term, crashed during the COVID shutdown, began to dramatically recover before the end of Trump’s term, then went to crap again under Biden.
The reality-impaired author apparently was confused by this:
Despite the economy’s strength, Americans appear downright despondent when it comes to their finances during Biden’s tenure.
Gee, what a shock. Short version: all of the supposed success of the Biden admin comes down to one thing: printing lots of money. That simply is not sustainable (to borrow a leftist term).
Yup. Agree. Meant to copy you on my comment at https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4205420/posts?page=10#10
#1 & #2 are the easiest numbers to lie about.
THEY control all the numbers coming into the equation.
The rest are also lies-—but harder to prove as such.
The “outstanding student loan debt” has been transferred to the general public.
3 walnut shells & 1 bean.
#12 : THE FEDERAL DEFICIT UNDER BIDEN HAS CLEARLY RISEN MUCH HIGHER THAN ANYTHING UNDER TRUMP.
THIS ONE IS A TOTAL LIE.
Yes - everyday living is much more difficult under Biden than it was under Trump.
I just don’t understand how Wall Street can do so well but Main Street suffers with supply chain issues, high prices, foreclosures, regulations and the like!!
The UNIONS & MINIMUM wages of $15 +++++ hit every product at every stage of the movement of that product.
Because this is the administration propaganda. Propaganda, as a term, applies to all such material, as it goes beyond simple marketing and into manipulating an audience towards (or against) a political aim or aims.
WaPo is shrinking in influence as in subscribers / readers. Working backwards in time....
More than 58 million total digital unique visitors visited The Washington Post in December 2022 20 January 2023So down from 86.8 million in March 2022, to 65 million in December 2022, to today's "high" of 58 million in January 2023. The trend is downward as the WaPo blogs indicate by citing their own numbers.More than 65 million people visited The Washington Post in November 2022 21 December 2022
The Post recorded 86.8 million total digital unique visitors in February 2022 30 March 2022
One notes it is December 2023. Time tells much.
Choking from all this gaslighting. Don’t anybody light a match until I get a window open.
Bull crap! Within tho hours of taking office, Biden shutdown the XL Keystone Pipeline project leaving the only means of transporting the crude from the ND oil fields to the refineries in the Mississippi Delta was on the rail cars owned by Biden's buddy, Warren Buffet. He then went on to restrict federal lands oil leases, both on and off shore. He also did nothing to speed up the licensing process for exploration, preferring to see his bureaucrats drag their feet on the permit process. Gas prices shot up immediately after years of decreases under Trump.
When the public complained, Biden said he released millions of acres of federal land for oil exploration. What he neglected to tell people was those "new" lands had already been explored and produced nothing but dry holes.
When that ruse failed, Biden released the National Oil Reserves to put a downward pressure gas prices just in time for the Nov elections. The reserves, reduced under Obama, built up again under Trump, and depleted again by Biden, are just a smoke screen to help clowns like the author of this article publish a spin of lies. He's either ignorant or duplicitous...pick one.
