Concerns about the high cost of countering the threat posed by the Yemeni armed forces in the Red Sea are growing in the Pentagon, according to US defense officials who spoke with Politico.

Sanaa has reportedly fired at least 100 drones toward Israeli-linked commercial vessels for the past month in support of the Palestinian people. US estimates place the cost of the domestic-made drones at $2,000 each.

The focus is wrong. Those same ships need to taking out expensive targets in Yemen, not just shooting down cheap drones. It needs to cost something for Yemen.

You know, instead of shooting million dollar missiles at cheap drones, it might be worth considering bombing the snot out of the launch areas with B-52s.

One would think the cannons on those ships have some proximity fused rounds.

Seems like a design flaw...

Every American President will do that except for Joe Biden and Jimmy Carter.

“Western media reports say that 19 nations have signed up to the task force, which is called Operation Prosperity Guardian.”

This is a joke. The UK and Italy are sending 1 ship each. Canada is deploying three staff officers. Denmark is sending one officer. Australia announced that it will send 11 military personnel with no warships. The Netherlands plans to send two staff officers and is debating whether to deploy ships. That’s basically it. How embarrassing for the US nobody wants to be a part of this.

Launch areas for a drone are absolutely useless. They choose! Why give them any control. Just pick expensive sites which they will miss.

One drone -> one bridge.

I had to laugh at that one myself. But this is serious. The Houthis are freaking nuts, they are like the honey badgers of the Arab world. This war is not gonna be some walk in the park like people here think it is. On the contrary it’s going to be a big deal, way bigger than people realize.

‘Shackled to a corpse’ is how General Erich von Ludendorff described Germany's alliance with Austria during the Great War. This too describes the United States' alliance with Europe.

Probably not work as they’ll just disperse and force us to take out every building there...hence the same cost.

Best option is something laser-based, maybe a blimp that can hover above a ship and simply keep zapping the damn things as they approach.
