Former NFL running back Rashard Mendenhall took to social media Monday to call for a racially segregated pro football game.
“I’m sick of average white guys commenting on football,” the Super Bowl champion said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Y’all not even good at football.”
Mendenhall, who played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers, offered a replacement to the existing Pro Bowl.
“Can we please replace the Pro Bowl with an All-Black vs. All-White bowl so these cats can stop trying to teach me who’s good at football?” he asked. “I’m better than ur goat.”
Former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt entertained the idea, noting that the "All-White" team would struggle to defend against Tyreek Hill, a Black wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins known for his speed.
“We’d get cooked at corner, not gonna lie,” Watt said. “Nobody on our squad is covering Tyreek [laughing emoji].”
Steelers podcast host Christopher Carter alleged the seemingly unprovoked post hints at potential mental struggles for Mendenhall.

How many black head coaches are there in the 2023 NFL season?

The NFL enacted the Rooney Rule, a principle mandating franchises to interview no fewer than one ‘diverse’ option for vacant head coaching positions in 2003. There were just three African-American head coaches in the NFL when the rule was put into place out of 32 positions. Two decades later, still only three African-Americans have that position: Mike Tomlin, Todd Bowles, and DeMeco Ryans.
Average white guys comment on football because they speak English, not Ebonics.
Well said.
I have nothing in common with the basketball players anymore.
John Stockton, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, etc, I could relate to them.
Now? LeBron James? Forget it.
I do and prove him wrong!
This guy has always been an asshole
I would only watch if the black team was allowed to throw its feces.
The trend for the league is to hire a young hotshot coach like Sean McVay who was 36 when he won the Super Bowl.
Mendenfvck couldn’t hold Rocky Bleier’s jockstrap.
To paraphrase: I might actually watch an occasional snippet of TV if/when we get proportional representation.
The 24/7 portrayal of white males as idiots and that misegination is just dandy makes my skin crawl.
Nevermind that we're the very group who made Western civilization possible.
*spit*
The baseball world had the Negro League with these teams originally:
The Chicago American Giants, the Chicago Giants, the Cuban Stars (New York), the Dayton (Ohio) Marcos, the Detroit Stars, the Indianapolis ABC’s, the Kansas City Monarchs, and the St. Louis Giants.
MLB history item: Home run hitter Josh Gibson-—
He was known as the “black Babe Ruth”; in fact, some fans at the time who saw both Ruth and Gibson play called Ruth “the white Josh Gibson”.
Probably not slinging burgers, slinging dope would be more accurate.
Johnny U was one of a kind.
‘...potential mental struggles for Mendenhall.’
gee, ya think...? on the serious side, this is just a taste of things to come...
“… NFL are barely tolerable even in mute mode.”
I’m listening to the Manning brothers and their guests right now do the Eagles/Seahawks game. They are so much better at calling the plays than the announcers and color guys that it’s refreshing, and their guests can be a lot more fun and interesting than the sidelines girls.
One of the big mouth’s poems.
A King, not a servant, even if I’m crownless
In this world you’re limited by the views of those around you
But I don’t live by this world’s standards
And that’s why I’m boundless
Not exactly good.
We ARE Western Civilization. We made it happen. We created it. The hangers on, misfits, miscreants all had the same opportunity and squandered it.
I haven’t watched a game since the first knee hit the ground. And I guarantee you that the NFL doesn’t have the stones to issue the kind of apology that would bring me back.
And I get things done on Sunday now. What a blessing!
