1 in 5 young Americans believe the Holocaust is a "myth." The result is troubling, but less bad than it looks. It is also just one part of a broader problem of widespread ignorance about history and political issues.

1 in 5 Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 believe the Holocaust is a "myth." This is indeed a troubling result.
...
The Holocaust is one of the worst events in all of human history and one of the best documented. There is no even remotely plausible reason to consider it a myth. Such claims are in the same boat as those of people who think the Earth is flat, or that the Moon landings were faked.
...
Some people who believe the Holocaust is a myth really are anti-Semites, neo-Nazis, or adherents of other horrible ideologies. But many are probably just ignorant without being malicious.
It is also important to emphasize that ignorance about the Holocaust is a facet of more general widespread public ignorance of history, politics, and economics.
...
the fact that such ignorance is not unique to the Holocaust actually makes the situation even more concerning. Political and historical ignorance can and does cause harm across a wide range of issues, not just those related to the Holocaust, anti-Semitism and related questions.
And if the problem is a general one, that makes it harder to solve than if it were limited to knowledge of the Holocaust.
Showing the video is horribly painful but necessary imho. Both of the events then a the events now. Had there not been so much video evidence released then, I wonder how much larger the holocaust denial would have been.

Data are your friend. It’s not all youngsters.
Bidet voters, Dems, Libs and moderates, and Urbanites all trend Holocaust denier.
Put it all together, Holocast Deniers tend to young leftists and centrists who live in cities.
That is NOT all youngsters, or MAGA nation.
Got our first TV back in 1956. Lots of shows on TV then that showed the holocaust in terrifying details. Even this 9 year old kid was shocked! Dad saw it first hand back in 1945. He would not talk about it.
Such shows stopped being shown on TV as “too horrible” and “glorifying violence”. back around 1968. Now only shows with “smooth scenes” are shown on TV today. Even scenes of the horrors of Vietnam were removed.
After the capture of Adolf Eichmann programs about him on TV then had horrible scenes of the mass killings.
I still remember the scenes of bulldozers pushing hundreds of dead prisoners into mass trenches for burial after the war.
I suppose the young in our days were raised to tougher standards than the “fainthearts” of today.
I have to say - if it wasn’t for my 6th grade English teacher I don’t think I would have heard anything said in school about the Holocaust. I thought he was a jerk but it opened my eyes to something that an 11 year old doesn’t normally consider. Beyond that experience, I started reading more about how the world was shaped geopolitically at that age. My mother’s input on matters of faith and how the secular world handled matters collided at that time for me. Another 20 years would pass before my form of ‘jingoism’ would be unraveled
“The Holocaust is one of the worst events in all of human history”
True. 6 million Jews and some 5 million others murdered by racist socialists.
However, Never Forget the 100,000,000 murdered by communism in 80 years, more dead than all combatants in all wars in all of mankind’s history.
Every year I showed my 8th-grade students a documentary called ‘Memory of the Camps’ that I recorded from a PBS documentary. You can see it on YouTube. I warned them that I was taking them to hell. The quality of my tape was terrible, which was a bit of a blessing. The scenes were so gruesome that even ‘tough’ jaded eighth graders found it hard to watch.
I showed it to them because I knew that with the passage of time the Holocaust would pass out of living memory and then could be denied with some impunity as we are seeing now.
Yes..I remember only one of my 7th grade teachers names...Mr. Venera...who made us read about some of the Nazi atrocities, out loud, during class.
The entire documentary series “The World At War” is available on YouTube in high definition. The episode on Thr Final Solution is gruesome.
I stumbled upon some videos on YouTube where they ask young college students and other young people simple questions. The people (many) that they show on camera can’t answer the questions. Here’s a sample of the questions they couldn’t answer:
- How many states are in the United States?
- What continent is the United States on?
- How much is 3x3x3?
- Show them an analog clock and ask them what time it is.
- Who fought in the Civil War?
...
That's what you get
when your education system degenerates to the extent that you teach "feminist studies" and LGBQTXYZ instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic, when schools become indoctrination centers for political propaganda,
when affirmative action determines the selection of teachers,
when the search for TRUTH is held in contempt,
when education leaders cannot tell the difference between right and wrong,
when all standards are lowered
and when the ability to read and write is no longer a criterion for graduating from high school.
What else would anyone expect?
What consequences does any intelligent, benevolent person expect when the US military is degraded like the US education system has been?
When the US government has been so degraded?
The US Free Press?
What will be the consequences of the degradation of all institutions and standards?
BETCHA THEY ALL KNOW ABOUT “PARTICIPATION TROPHIES”.
There used to be a “Man on the Street” show asking similar questions.
The lack of correct answers was appalling-—especially among younger kids that said they ‘were in college’.
I knew a guy who was a crew chief for a major drag racing team in the 80’s.
HE was at a birthday party & they were playing Trivial Pursuit-—in groups because so many people were there. HE drew the low ball & had to be the 6th space to get to answer questions.
HE RAN THE ENTIRE BOARD.
NO ONE ELSE EVEN GOT A DICE ROLL.
HE was quiet-—but he was wicked smart.

Mr Headman - we spent an entire quarter on Anne Frank’s Diary and what was happening outside of the book. I was failing his class (more interested in the girls sitting around me) and transferred out the next quarter - my homeroom teacher wanted to save my grades - I was all ‘A’s but for that class. I have to say it was the most memorable classroom experience for many years
It is not all that uncommon to come across young people that don’t think WW2 was real. They tend to think it is only some sort of allegory or metaphor. Many of those can’t be convinced it was actually real.
There’s an entire museum in the District of Corruption dedicated to the Holocaust. I was there in 2018.
