Foxx warned that other universities should expect to be faced with similar investigations...
Rep. Dr. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Chairwoman of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, has announced a formal investigation into Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and MIT. This comes after the presidents of all three universities refused to affirm that “calling for the genocide of Jews” is necessarily against the rules at their respective universities.
Each of the three university presidents refused to answer “yes,” after being asked multiple times whether “calling for the genocide of Jews” violates their own university policies. All three presidents repeatedly suggested that the answer to the question lies in the ‘context’ surrounding the call for genocide. Two suggested that the speech must turn “into conduct” in order to violate the rules.
...
“The testimony we received earlier this week from Presidents Gay, Magill, and Kornbluth about the responses of Harvard, UPenn, and MIT to the rampant antisemitism displayed on their campuses by students and faculty was absolutely unacceptable,” Dr. Foxx said in a Thursday statement.
Foxx noted that the committee members have “deep concerns” with the leadership of Harvard University President Claudine Gay, University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill, and MIT President Sally Kornbluth, citing their “failure to take steps to provide Jewish students the safe learning environment they are due under law.”
The representative accused the three presidents of both “institutional and personal failures.” The investigation will address the universities “learning environments,” as well as policies and disciplinary procedures.
Foxx warned that other universities should expect to be faced with similar investigations, “as their litany of similar failures has not gone unnoticed.”
Have congress pass a resolution to revoke the universities’ accreditation until a change in leadership happens.
So is it only Jews we are worried about? Or is the rampant anti-White rhetoric and hatred also being investigated?
Congress should reassess college endowments and limit their tax-exemption to the first $5 billion. The remainder should face a 40% tax rate, given the general university embrace of confiscatory tax rates.
“Seems like a waste of the governments time. I doubt they’d care about anti- white , anti-American , and anti Christian protests”
Don’t forget males.
I do agree with you. Nobody is discussing the double standards. Somebody needs to fly a plane over Harvard that says “Harvard hates white males, but that is OK.”
Airplane Flies Banner Over Harvard University That Reads, ‘Harvard Hates Jews’
It should say, ‘Harvard hates white males, but that is OK’
Perhaps they were thinking about the acceptable calls for white genocide and thought that made calls for the genocide of other races acceptable?
I nominate Penn State.
We don’t need another Congressional investigation. What we need is action. The GOP controls the House of Representatives. Under our Constitution the House has the power of the purse. Our nation is over $30 trillion in debt and the interest on the national debt is becoming the highest expense item in the national budget.
If the Republicans were serious they would immediately defund the Department of Education, end the federal government involvement in student loans. and end payments to colleges and universities. If private universities, such as those mentioned, want to be “woke” so be it. Let them do it with private money.
As for state universities it is the responsibility of the state legislatures to fund and oversee them. Why aren’t legislator in Republican controlled states exerting control over public education, including universities, in those states?
Another Congressional investigation, this time of private universities, is a waste of time and resources. It is a just another smokescreen for Republican politicians making noise and accomplishing nothing.
“a moratorium should be declared for all federal funds to colleges ...”
I was wondering how government can punish what someone says. I’m ok with an employer firing someone for what they say if it violates the employer’s rules for their employees.
However, the government withholding financial support seems reasonable and constitutional.
Every single person that has been kicked out, fired or suspended for “words” needs to so each of those institutions.
Don’t forget UNC-Chapel Hill a den of liberalism.
The campus Left was led to believe that calling for white genocide was acceptable. And it was. Their mistake was in thinking that “white” included Jews. They didn’t realize that calling for Jewish genocide would bring down the wrath of the media, Congress, and billionaire donors.
As an MIT and Harvard alum, I am ashamed at the behavior of the two university presidents at that hearing!
The longstanding anti-Christian bias of these universities has also been completely unaddressed! (However, that hearing before Congress was not the appropriate place to do so.)
Best comment on thread.

TAMIs are far more dangerous than Karens.
Hope this leads to dismantling the administrative regimes in these universities. Can we “nationalize” these universities and let Congress appoint overseers? Just like we do to police departments? Let’s try that for a change. Congress should appoint someone like Larry Elder to oversee Harvard.
You can get into most Ivy League college if you are anti-semitic but you can get advanced placement if you actually kill Jews.
Irrelevant...best way to get to them is stop funding them.
What, exactly, is being “investigated” that is within the purview of Congress?
What branch of the Federal government is authorized to set "guidelines" for speech?
