Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) predicted former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will leave Congress by the end of the year, following former Rep. George Santos’s (R-N.Y.) historic expulsion Friday.
“With Santos gone, you’re hearing it here first: the next GOP member to leave Congress will be @SpeakerMcCarthy,” Swalwell wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday.
“No way he stays,” he continued. “A guy who kidney punches his colleagues from behind is too afraid to serve out a full term with them. I bet he’s gone by end of year. What say you?”
Swalwell’s reference to “kidney punches” pointed to a disputed accusation that McCarthy deliberately elbowed Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) as he walked behind the lawmaker last month.

McCarthy probably told Swalwell he was leaving.
McCARTHY should leave, he had his chance and failed miserably. He sided with the establishment, just like Cantor and Ryan.
All three of those guys were featured in that Young Guns book.
I never read the book, but from what I heard from someone ,that book was featuring younger guys who were supposed to be the future of conservatism ,and the future of the Republican Party.
Now it appears that time has passed them by , politically.

Last I checked, McCarthy was the ONLY person actively running for the spot. The Establishment was 100% on board with it. A few people were nominated.
