The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is in the midst of an mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) outbreak that has led to nearly 600 deaths, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Unlike last year’s global outbreak, this one involves a different type of mpox virus (Clade I) that causes more severe disease. For the first time, sexual transmission of this strain is playing a role, especially among men who have sex with men.

Masters and Johnson recalled years later they had an interview with the young black who is thought to be America’s patient zero for AIDS. He bragged about lots of sex he had and the two never thought of the idea he was talking about gay sex with other males all over the place.
From CDC website: “Studies show that HIV may have jumped from chimpanzees to humans as far back as the late 1800s. The chimpanzee version of the virus is called simian immunodeficiency virus.”
(Note: they try to smooth over the sex angle by saying it possibly could have been spread by infected meat of the chimpanzees the African men killed for food. Sure.)

I thought the first round primarily impacted gay men.

Of course it did affect gays mostly, but the media tries to hide that fact.

So are you suggesting that the illness did NOT spread to humans by eating undercooked ape meat? How did it get spread, by sex with apes? Or by keeping sick caged/pet apes???
