A half-century before Donald Trump dismissed the four criminal cases against him as a “witch hunt,” a defensive President Richard M. Nixon famously declared, “I’m not a crook.”
Nixon made the comment 50 years ago Friday, on Nov. 17, 1973, at Disney World in Florida as the Watergate scandal was swirling around him. It came a month after the Saturday Night Massacre, when Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus resigned rather than carry out Nixon’s order to fire Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox. Then Solicitor General Robert Bork fired Cox.
Now Nixon was addressing 400 people at the Associated Press Managing Editors annual convention in an hour-long televised question-and-answer session, where he said he never obstructed justice. “People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook,” he said. “Well, I’m not a crook.”

President Richard Milhous Nixon was not a crook. The object of the Watergate crew was to try to prevent a known-communist from winning the presidential election,i.e., communist-bitch, George McGovern, ( who later recanted all of his communist B.S. to try to ‘repair’ his legacy. )
The reason Congress went after the Watergate crew and our President was to win the next election.
Those enemy-turncoat-scoundrels within should have been pinning medals on the entire Nixon administration.
He was not a crook. Crooks were the ones who removed him from office. The FBI, the CIA, the Democrat media conspiracy, and so on.
Nixon never gave guns to drug cartels. Yeah Barry the Obamanation of Desolation, I’m looking at you!
Well, at least he never stole an election, took bribes, sold defense secrets to our enemies, financed terrorists, started wars for personal profit or molested children.

Watergate was nothing compared to. most presidential crimes. Nixon deserved better (though he was too liberal for my tastes)

You're probably too young to have lived through the time that Mr. Nixon was in the House/Senate/VEEP/and perhaps old enough to remember/know much about his presidency,in that time. You can't judge what happened later ( re China ), why he went there and "opened" engagement.
At that time, China and the USSR were getting very "cozy". In order to break that somewhat apart, is WHY he did what he did, as at that time the USSR really was a threat to America and China combined with the USSR was viewed as a disaster.

I have read it up and down.His Domestic policy was absolutly disastrous. He enlarged The Great Society, and drove up Inflation. The USSR became more powerful under him,DeSantis was a flat failure. In fact the USSr was the most powerful in 1980.

Nixon was a GREAT member of the House, Senate, a very good VEEP, and a better President than you claim. He was also a nice man, who was hounded and smeared and torn to shreds, from the 1950s to today my the MSM, Dems, Commies, and yes, even Ike, when he was the VEEP...and still is! No, Reagan drove up the debt as well.One of my biggest heros, Andrew Jackson was the only President to ever retire the debt. Perhaps, President Trump, who is a Jacksonian, can bring the debt down and whack at the buricratic state in his s3cond term.
