The union representing thousands of Starbucks workers has said it will launch its “largest strike ever” on Thursday amid the coffee chain’s annual Red Cup Day.
Starbucks Workers United said in a press release on Monday that it is demanding the company bargain over staffing and scheduling issues and turn off mobile ordering on promotion days like Red Cup Day.
The yearly event, during which Starbucks gives away free reusable holiday cups, is the company’s “biggest sales event of the season” and “one of the most infamously hard, understaffed days for the baristas that work them,” according to the union.
Promotion days like Red Cup Day produce a “flood of customers” but are not paired with any additional staffing, Starbucks Workers United said.

Is that like ‘Red Nose Day’ only lower down?....................
Starbucks union wants Starbucks to cost even more ,LOL
Guess any monkey off the street can pour coffee, so they definitely need a union.
It’s not like they’re the only coffee shop.
Couldn’t they just beef up the staffing?
This Red Cup whatever only last for a day.
The union is pushing it, to strike on that particular day.
Some managers may find enough non-union workers to keep going. I don’t know if union membership is a mandatory condition of employment at Starbucks. A lot of retailers used to be that way.
Self immolation sort of goes along with the latte-builder set...
Yawn...
They are pissed off because Starbucks gave their non-union employees a raise, but not them, because: union contract......................
They have these portable mini on the go coffee makers now ,LOL
Another large corporation doomed by its bureaucracy, politics and parasites of all kinds.
It will take a few years but it will die
Fire. Them. All!
Starbucks on strike? Will anyone notice?
Waaaaahhh! 😭😢
Good grief, what a bunch of spoiled jerks.
Grocery stores don’t bring on extra people during Thanksgiving week or other brief peak times. They don’t even know about some of them until they happen such as pre-hurricane or pre-blizzard shopping. They may put more of their existing staff on at that time, but crazy-busy retail days are going to happen.
I worked part-time in a department store in my college days. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve was crazy. We barely looked up from the cash register for hours on end. We did not get paid extra for that. We *knew* the Christmas season would be crazy. We just sucked it up and dealt with it. Hey, it made the shift go by fast.
Suck it up, Ys and Zs and stop whining.
Guess I’ll have to skip the burnt coffer and stick to my Folgers, like every other day.

I’ve never tasted Starcucks coffee, I take other people’s word for it, that it’s expensive garbage. Folgers has been my coffee all my coffee drinking life.

Liberal owner gets what he deserved.
