Rarely mentioned is the nature of the calls for a truce. October 7, 2023, a truce existed between Israel and Hamas. Entered into in May, 2023 and I believe confirmed within a week or so of the attack. From the most prominent liberal Israeli source handy.

Those advocating a truce know full well they're advocating resupplly and the continued existance of Hamas' fighting force. And no, this isn't the first truce Hamas has broken.

Islam is deeply rooted in 7th century tribalism and has unlike Christianity not had a Reformation nor an Enlightenment. Islam thus does not embrace concepts like individual liberty or freedom of thought, but like a tribal culture seeks conquest and submission from all who do not believe as they do. Radicals in Islam foster a belief in a jihad that permits the most heinous of actions as long as in their view they bring about a global caliphate. Hence rape and murder are seen as acts of piety when perpetrated against the “enemies” of Islam. What Islam needs is for someone to nail their 95 theses to the mosque door.
