The reality is, he has very little political capital, and he is hearding cats, since at least half of the Republicans are more aligned with democrat than conservatives. He needs to get every win he can get, releasing the recordings will be a plus.
If every moment of every video in and around the Capitol from January 6, 2021 is not released, the Democrats have redacted what is damaging.

No he didn’t. Tucker was allowed to view them under McCarthy’s control. He barely scratched the surface because the hours of video could not be culled and searched in nearly the detail required.
It was a McCarthy head fake. But tucker was never given a hard drive and “here you go, it’s all we have”. Tucker had access to a small example of a curated version.

Also this amount of video needed to be publicly released so it can be searched by thousands of people. It was beyond the capability of one news team to cull through it properly. It was released to one and only one person under controlled conditions so the autists at 4chan etc could not find out too many FBI and Homeland Security faces.
