A review of the studies done so far has concluded that wearing masks really does help prevent the spread of covid-19. It is far from the first paper to come to this finding, so why does the issue remain so controversial? The problem is that it isn’t easy to carry out individual studies of the highest standard during a pandemic.
That standard is a randomised controlled trial (RCT), in which people are randomly assigned to either get a treatment or intervention, in this case wearing a mask, or not. Because of the practical difficulties, only two RCTs have looked at whether wearing masks prevents the spread of covid-19 outside of healthcare settings.
One, in Denmark, was too small to produce a statistically significant result. The other, in Bangladesh, found that in villages randomly chosen to be supplied with masks, 35 per cent fewer people aged more than 60 years old and 10 per cent fewer people overall got symptomatic infections, compared with villages that weren’t supplied with masks.

Masks are step #1 in convincing the unwitting that humans are the disease itself.
The gaslighting and presumptive close combo meal.
Experiment and get back to me, like one person wear what you need to enter a BSL-3 facility and the other wear a face panty. Cough COVID into their faces. See who gets infected across 10,000 people.
Then tell me they are effective.
The only thing I can guarantee to be 100 percent scientific fact is that no scientist wants their funding cut.
Nope! And we are not putting up with the lies this time.
Since it’s a basic influenza virus, technically your eyes are still susceptible. Just put a plastic bag over your head, seal it with a zip tie or duct tape. You won’t catch covid, I promise. You won’t even need to be triple vaxed after doing this. One h3ll of a convenience.
Do it now before all of the waiting lines get out of hand.
“I’m tired of these plebs trying to tell a free society what we must do”
When people who own/board multiple horses have trouble with an aggressive horse biting/fighting etc. other horses, they mask the aggressive horse. Calms it down. When you are in oxygen deficit you don’t feel aggressive.

Literally just stop with the garbage. The most detailed review did no such thing, in fact it showed they were ineffective. Cochrane is literally the established leading standard of medical studies and reviews. The study found.. and I quote!
“The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks.”

Also laying out provisos and qualifiers like 20- 30 minutes and against close proximity, and note even stating what kind of mask, literally is nothing more than trying to fabricate a supporting narrative.
You know full well masks were presented as a cure all, the intent to wear in all social settings and no one was expected to real an N95 only the stupid paper ones. Stop with the sophistry!
Pure BS. Masks do not stop viruses period. They’ve known that for the last 100 years. Get these nefarious pseudo scientist in jail for crimes against humanity.
I am sorry to challenge your anti mask religion.
I get that things that contradict your worldview must be garbage because hey….you know it all.
You obviously don’t see the problems with a population study of mask wearing (as you cited) versus a mechanical measuring study (which I cited).
Frankly do what you want I don’t care but you anti mask zealots are just as crazed as the wear masks at all cost idiots.
I agree. And he is also a hoot to listen to and has great facial expressions. I love his bluntness.
We didn’t see anyone wearing a mask in N. Cali in the month of October: at church, our grocery store, the post office annex, filling station or what/where ever.
Neither did any of our adult relatives in other nearby Cali cities/counties see anyone wearing a mask for months.
The same with our relatives/friends on the east coast, mid west, and southwest: zero masks being worn.
Friends and relatives in Floriduh, can’t remember seeing anyone wearing a mask.
You see, the problem with the shots is they didn’t put enough spike proteins and nanoparticles in it. Just add a hundred trillion more of those sharp little thingies and that should take care of it.

You asserted a study supports your position, claimed it was the gold standard of studies, yet provided no receipts.
I literally provided what is the gold standard of medical studies and the receipt, it unequivocally refutes you.
Your response is to then employ ad hominem character attacks and still no receipts.
Full disclosure, my wife is an RN who for years before covid frequently worked with actual isolation patients, we are very aware of what works and does not work and when such protective measures are employed. Here is a shocker, covid somehow changed all the established practices, never before would a nurse rely on a surgical mask for an isolation patient, but somehow for covid that was enough. Also if you know anything you should be aware covid can also transmit via the eyes, actual protective measures should include a face shield or goggles but I am sure that is not important to you, only your sacred false narrative.
Pretty obvious who is full of shite here.
Covid 19 is a fictional disease once used in place of a Flu virus. The only proof of it is electron microscopes and PCR tests that find fragments and multiply them millions of times until even water can be found to be infected.
Also who cares that a mask for a short period of time under qualified circumstances will proved a limited amount of protection? That was never the issue at hand.
Again I am sure you are fully aware the discussion is about wearing a mask contiguously, long term in all social settings and only a surgical mask, not an N95 or better. That is what need evaluated as whether it is effective.
The answer is absolutely no, the studies show it is not.
One could wear a plastic bag over their head and be safe from covid, but how does that prove it is effective in real life applications?
I know what the mechanical studies show about masks, I took the time to learn about them when my wife became an RN working with isolation patients. I also know enough to realize there is a difference between real life verses theoretical applications.
Actually, that isn’t going over so big, even with the environmental nuts in Whatcom County. Clearing people out of the Mount Baker Woods, just doesn’t have the same appeal as anti-oil industry idiocy.
First off what you cited was not a study and certainly not a “gold standard study” LOL.
What you cited was an analysis of 78 different UNCONTROLLED studies conducted around the world. UNCONTROLLED means that those conducting the studies had no way to measure the behavior of the participants which could have skewed the results, they could not monitor the participants diligence or aptitude in using masks, nor did any of the studies control for incidental contact versus long term contacts. Not doing that basically makes those studies worthless as to determining if masks provide any protection against Covid19.
A mechanical study actually measured the percentage of virus detected passing through a mask during a given time in a closed environment. This was highly controlled and measured and showed that while masks do not stop all virus particles from passing through, they do stop enough (through moisture adhesion and static electricity) to infer that a mask provides some temporary protection. Very temporary and short term as I stated before. Masks provide no protection for contacts of anything over an hour and usually much less time than that.
I am not even advocating people wear masks unless they are in very specific criteria. Personally I could care less if you or anyone else wears a mask. I am amazed however at the hysteria both pro and anti mask, where people discard any semblance of reason and instead adhere to rigid positions where they only believe what they want to believe.
