Sen. Angus King (I-ME) is working on “assault rifle” gun control this week after a suspect with a sniper rifle shot and killed 18 people in Lewiston, Maine.
The Portland Press Herald noted that King is not ready to reveal details about his gun control bill,
The Herald indicated King’s intention is to “ban the most dangerous and lethal aspects of military-style assault rifles.” King provided a clue into what these “aspects” of certain firearms might be when he spoke to KTLA and said, “I want to do what’ll work and to me, the most clear danger are these high capacity magazines.”

1. They’re not “assault rifles” by definition. Assault Rifles are capable of fully automatic fire. Modern sporting rifles are not.
2. Standard capacity magazines are 30 rounds. High capacity would be more than that but high capacity magazines have never been found to be a factor in murders with guns. It takes less than 2 seconds for anybody familiar with guns to change out a magazine. There is no indication magazine capacity was a factor in the shootings in Maine.
Anus is making another empty gesture so that it seems like he’s doing something. He should be focusing on why the Maine shooter wasn’t disarmed given his mental health issues and family warnings to police. Would Anus feel better if the shooter had 10 round mags and had to reload three times?
I really wonder when was the last time that a resident of Maine was killed by a rifle that was firing on full auto? It may never have happened.

Here’s the thing. This occupation DC government has allowed 8 to 10 million illegals in from all over the third world, they opened the prisons with mass release of violent criminals. They terrorize and arrest people praying near abortion clinics and going to school board meetings. Cartels, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Moslem Brotherhood all operate openly in America and attack elderly white men in traffic....

The semantics game will not save us. They mean military style rifles with all the functions. Yes, a civilian AR-15 could be be easily substituted in military service with almost no loss of function. We will not win by parroting the assault rifle definition and “proving” that your Colt AR-15A4 is not select fire, and therefor, NOT an assault rifle.
As we spike the ball and think we win the debate, they will say, “yeah whatever, we want the AR you have.... whatever you want to call it”.
Hobbiests and shooters smugly declare victory when they want to ban 30 round clips. We ask about their en bloc clip and their AR Garand and think we won.
They couldn’t care less about lingo. They want the 30 round clips and the assault rifles and couldn’t care less what we call it.
Finally a nut case that knows how to shoot accurately!

These people use language to deceive, not to communicate. You cannot let your enemy define the terms. So we must firstly REJECT their definitions and then point out how the things they want to ban will not be effective in stopping what they CLAIM they want to stop. Then we need to point out that since the bans they CLAIM will stop a certain harm will not do so and they know that, they must be wanting to impose bans and strip away citizen's rights for another reason.....

Doesn’t work like that. Other than hobby shooters, collectors, and enthusiasts, there is no functional difference between an assault rifle M-16, and a semi auto of the exact same pattern in AR semi style. Both are equally capable, and the semi auto shooter is probably to be feared even more.
Think of it this way. When they say they want to restrict how many bullets someone can buy, you don’t smugly sit there and think “Ha, I’m not a reloader”. And you don’t think you won because they didn’t say how many cartridges you may buy.
Nobody except hobbiests, knows or cares the difference between an official definition assault rifle, and a functionally identical AR-15. For them the difference is it best, academic. They want to take away the rifle somebody walks in with and does a mass murder in the night club. You won’t win a thing by convincing the public that it wasn’t a full auto, and therefore, not an assault rifle, and therefore, completely outside the balance of the discussion the politician is pushing. You win nothing.
If they say they want to ban M-14s, only a fool would roll their eyes and say “Ha, I have an M1A, you don’t even know the proper name of what you want to ban! Lol
