Youngkin 2024? Most Voters Say No
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 10-26-2023 | Rasmussen Reports

Speculation that Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin could run for the 2024 Republican president nomination gets little encouragement from voters.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 19% of Likely U.S. Voters believe Youngkin should enter next year’s presidential campaign, while 55% think he should not. Another 26% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

So another Anti Trumper master plan blows up in their faces. Imagine how much they could accomplish if they fought the Dems half as hard as they fight their own voter base.

What did the voters think about Obama in October of 2007? Things can turn around very quickly when most voters have not even considered who to vote for. Unexpected events can lead to massive shifts.

Youngkin appears to be a little smarter than DeSantis - he realizes this is not the moment, and he is needed in his own state.

Preface: I’m a Trump supporter, more later...

Trump has sucked up all the oxygen in the room, Desantis was a 2028 easy choice if he would have stuck to his current term. If _I_ was a Florida resident, I’d be livid he ‘abandoned’ his state for higher office.

Trump has support, it won’t fade, its based on perceived retaliation/revenge/correction from the last election cycle.

Youngkin would be wise to sit it out as long as possible and evaluate as things change.

Good Questions.

At this point in 2007 it was Clinton 38, Obama 24 and then all the others.

Smart has nothing to do with it, DeSantis is getting his name out there just in case Trump ends up in jail and if Trump does happen to escape jail and happen to win in 2024 anyone who has run for the nomination before will be a contender

That appears to be what he’s doing. He is quite sharp, and won’t make a fool of himself like DeSantis.

Youngkin’s been a great governor here in Va, but let him run against the execrable Tim Kaine for the Senate next year. He could help put the Senate back in Republican hands and turn over the governorship to Lt Gov Winsome Sears, who would become Virginia’s first black female governor as a Republican (and former Marine). Trump is elected President with both houses under R control, which will drive the Dems bat guano.

If they are going to pull a rabbit out of their hat, the anti Trumpers are running out of time to do it.

Deadline to run for president, 2024

There is no formal, national deadline to file to run for . Instead, candidates must meet a variety of state-specific filing requirements and deadlines to appear on each state’s election ballot.

These regulations, which are set at the state level, are known as . They often include collecting a certain number of signatures and/or paying a filing fee. A presidential candidate must prepare to meet ballot access requirements well in advance of primaries, caucuses, and the general election if he or she wants to make it to the election ballot.

The earliest filing deadline we have identified for a presidential state primary is October 16, 2023, in .

Obama in 2007 October was ahead or tied with Hillary and Edward’s. He wasn’t 30pts behind and 50pts behind nationally. 2nd, Obama is extremely charismatic and had a huge push from every media outlet. Hillary didn’t have a base as loyal as Trump. Ita just not the same scenario. Therr I’d absolutely no evidence that anyone who is currently 40pts behind Trump is as good a politician as Obama. Obama also had a natural constituency who happened to be the most important constituency in the Democratic party. In the Republican party, right now, that constituency is MAGA.

That’s nationally. I think you’ll find that Obama was probably polling ahead of Clinton in Iowa by now. Certainly by December it was clear Edward’s, Obama and Clinton would be close in Iowa. That’s just over a month from now.
