Oh my goodness! The greedy power companies just want to make money and destroy the environment. There should be quite a sufficient amount of fairy dust and unicorn droppings to provide all the "green" energy power we need.

There is no need for transmission lines. Power can just be provided remotely via satellite or something. Just Zoom it in! All we need to do is install more electrical outlets and those can be easily installed at gas stations and other such places.

That’s just one country.
Multiply by 200 countries, assuming each one of them were as advanced as the West and you need probably about 5 billion new lines or so.

The real intent isn’t to move from gas to electricity; It’s to get rid of personal automobiles period.
Travel will be for the elite, not the commoners.

I say 51 million miles. That’s a lotta copper. Start mining the planet. (From what I read, recycled copper cannot be used in new wire. Could be wrong about that.)

Well, if Nikola Tesla had his way, that's exactly what we'd have.

That’s just one country.

Well, no.

From the Article: the world will need to refurbish or add 50 million miles of new transmission lines within 17 years

“There is no need for transmission lines. Power can just be provided remotely via satellite or something.”

Well, Tesla (the scientist, not the car company) figured out wireless transmission of electricity over a hundred years ago. We could just do that and everyone could just charge their cars on the go with a simple antenna.

But then the power companies would have no way to meter usage and charge people for it, so we would have to turn power generation over to a government agency and make it a taxpayer-funded public service.

Yep. I fail to understand why more people do not understand that. They mock the “greenies” for their lack of understanding without realizing the climate cultists understand it all too well. We peons are not going to be allowed to travel outside our 15 minute cities. We will walk, bike, or take the electric bus to pre-approved destinations. There will be plenty of both gas and electricity for the elite who will be in charge of allocating the resources.

Also, it wasn’t too many decades ago that air travel was something only for the very well-to-do. They want to return to those times.

...and you know the enviro-weenies will challenge that, and tie it up in courts for YEARS - probably preventing a rational, orderly, and planned program until it’s too late.

“The Boulder Valley School District says it wants to replace its diesel school buses with more environmentally friendly green buses.

However, the district is going to buy five new diesel school buses because the electric and propane-powered buses won’t hold up on the more demanding routes.

The district is set to approve the purchase of five new diesel passenger school buses for $714,876. The district is expected to approve the new school buses at its Oct. 24 meeting.”
