House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) dropped out of the Speaker’s race on Tuesday, just hours after the conference nominated the Minnesota Republican for the top job, according to a source familiar.
Emmer withdrew his name from the running after a contingent of Republicans made clear they would not back him on the House floor, making it virtually impossible for him to secure enough votes to win the gavel.

“Awesome!”
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Totally awesome!!!!
Did DJT come out against?
Yes, Trump for Speaker and watch the explosion 💥🤯
Good!!
Agreed. The longer this drags out, the stronger the Freedom 8’s bargaining position becomes. I’m still hoping that Trump is eventually brought in to break the stalemate, but I’d be okay with Jordan.
“Well that was quick!”
He was exposed. His voting record came back to haunt him.
DRAG IT OUT! LET’S STOP THE MONEY MACHINE!
If he walked out it just proves he didn’t have the temperament to be speaker.
Donalds isn’t my first choice but it would be fun to repeat over and over “First African American Speaker” before Jefferies. They’ll pretend he’s not a real speaker. He’s definitely all in on Ukraine though.
I didn’t know I lived in the Feminist States of America...
Byron!!!!!!
Circle “______”
Fill in the blank.
Yes, very forcefully on Truth. Called him a Globalist RINO.
Byron Donalds!! Force the racist democrats to vote against a black man.
I have already written my representative to ask for his vote for Donalds and I urge FRiends to do the same. He is a staunch 2A supporter!
good riddance.
NEXT!
my God why don't they just draw straws. It would be a smarter process than this.
Therein lies the danger.
The RINO contingent is capable of putting up someone so close to the Dems that Jeffries can signal to his caucus that this is their guy and they vote overwhelmingly for him. Instantly, the Speaker representing the Republican majority is a pawn of the Democrats for his continued position. Then watch the fun start! Equal representation on committees. Shared committee chairs. A pipeline of Democrat legislation destined for passage.
Since there are 10-20 Conservatives with some principals and 10-20 RINOS with an agenda, I think the Republican caucus can go through all 221 members and not find someone acceptable to both sides. I think it may be time to look outside Congress for a Speaker. Devin Nunes or Lee Zelden would be serious people capable of doing the job.
I want to drag it out for months
1. Why the hell would Trump even want the job?
2. He’d be lucky to get 25 votes as a Speaker candidate.
