Therein lies the danger.

The RINO contingent is capable of putting up someone so close to the Dems that Jeffries can signal to his caucus that this is their guy and they vote overwhelmingly for him. Instantly, the Speaker representing the Republican majority is a pawn of the Democrats for his continued position. Then watch the fun start! Equal representation on committees. Shared committee chairs. A pipeline of Democrat legislation destined for passage.

Since there are 10-20 Conservatives with some principals and 10-20 RINOS with an agenda, I think the Republican caucus can go through all 221 members and not find someone acceptable to both sides. I think it may be time to look outside Congress for a Speaker. Devin Nunes or Lee Zelden would be serious people capable of doing the job.
