Privacy Notice An Alaska Airlines passenger inside the cockpit attempted to seize control of a plane headed from a Seattle airport to San Francisco on Sunday, the airline said.
A pilot told air traffic controllers a person riding in the cockpit of flight 2059 attempted to turn off the aircraft's engines in flight. An airline's pilots, or pilots at other airlines, will occasionally ride a cockpit "jump seat" when traveling in an official capacity or commuting to another airport.
The passenger, who has not been named, was an off-duty pilot and has been arrested by Port of Portland Police Department, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

The passenger, who has not been named, was an off-duty pilot... That seems to be the elephant in the room.
How many other pilots are similarly wired? Will they go off at the same time one day?

Two different threads listed different airlines too. I think they finally settled on Alaska Airlines.

Horizon is Alaska’s regional, short distance airline. With the slogan "Hey what's that mountain goat doing way up here in the clouds..."

I guess he finally figured out that the plane would land in San Francisco and he preferred to die.

Total leftist pilot who was furloughed in the Covid-19 drawdown and begged the Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, to save aviation (i.e. his job).
It is a pretty good guess that he wasn't doing well in his new job in Alaska and wanted to crash this aircraft as a sick perverted protest.

There was a PSA flight in Ca in the 80’s where a ground worker boarded a plane with a gun and killed his former boss, who had just fired him. Then he went up to the cockpit and killed both pilots, then killed himself, leaving the plane to nosedive and kill all passengers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Southwest_Airlines_Flight_1771
As a result, ALL CREW MEMBERS had to go through security from then on but NOT GROUND PERSONNEL.
So, look for some dumba$$ knee jerk reaction to deny all pilots access to the jumpsuit in commuting to or from work.
Because of ONE person.
To: nickcarraway
Well...
We don’t know, maybe some of the passengers or crew were giving him the business...

"The guy’s a pilot. In the cockpit. Not a passenger." Wrong. He was a jump seat passenger.
