Former Speaker Gingrich tonight in his column: "Speaker Pro Tempore McHenry is a lot better solution than gridlock and chaos. He should be empowered this week and let’s get on with the peoples’ business."

I think the dems, the NeverTrumpers, swamp dwellers, and the media can find enough repub votes to intentionally deadlock the speakership vote for some time.
Maybe forever, or at least until the repubs are no longer in the majority. What was it, 18 votes until McDaniel finally got it? And the dems and the media were eating it up the whole time. Every story was about how the repubs were weak, in disarray, couldn't govern themselves out of a wet paper bag?
I think that's what Newt's afraid will happen -- it scares me too.
If that's the dems plan, it might be wise if the pro tem has the power to act as Speaker until we get a new one.
Jordan's the man I want in there, but a scant few can keep him out, and there's work to be done NOW.
I'm of the opinion that chaos, indecision and inaction only works in the democrats' favor

That’s how we got Dennis Hastert. Gingrich was forced out and then so was his replacement. So the House GOP turned a seemingly then non controversial placeholder. Except the placeholder remained for 8 years.

He’s showing his true colors. He’s smart to say good things about Donald Trump, unlike most of the other conservative columnists. He wouldn’t sell books if bashed him.

Of course he is, Newt might be better suited to go to Gaza and try and talk peace with Hamas.

" Why don't the Republicans just ask the Democrats who they want as Speaker???? "
They already did and voted for Jeffreies. We could end up with a demo speaker.

Draining the Uniparty RINO Swamp IS the people’s business. If you were a man of the people Newt, you’d know that.

One more thing: I don’t give a fig, Newton, what you think.

Did Newt have a nice sit down on a couch with Nancy Pelosi and promise to sell this “compromise”?

I just read over 50 Posts.
Not one of them has a solution to the problem of 217.
To: Maris Crane
Could be they're all stalling on this for another reason.....Demorats love it because it stops our guys from getting things done....Republicans love it because they love throwing their individual weight around among themselves. Neither is concerned about anything in the nation rather how they each can benefit.

Newt is right, there seems to be no path to 217 votes for Jordan.
Ranting about it is not going to change the simple arthimetic.
The best bet is to let McHenry continue.
