At least 500 people have been killed in a bombing of a hospital in Gaza City, the Palestinian Health Ministry has claimed.
A spokesman for the ministry said in a statement: "Initial estimates indicate that between 200 and 300 martyrs were killed in the bombing that targeted Baptist Hospital in Gaza city."
The ministry later revised the figure to at least 500, AP and Reuters reported.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are investigating what happened at the hospital. They say they don't have any further details on the bombing.
It follows local reports of deaths and injuries at the al Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital, in northern Gaza.

Oddly enough, I believe this Palestinian report. Even the casualty totals are likely to be correct.
What they left out is that Hamas was using the hospital as a base of operations and had launched rockets from nearby.
Yes, that will get a lot of civilians killed. Too bad for them.
And according to the so-called "laws of war", hospitals lose their protected status when used as military bases.

But HAMAS upped the figure to 500 (nice round number) to make sure it’s not proportional.
Indeed. Not that hamas is a signatory to the Geneva Convention, but this notion of using a civilian hospital as a military base from which to launch attacks, renders that hospital a fair military target.
