Philippines’ ex-President Rodrigo Duterte says Israel should ‘crush Hamas’, turn Gaza into ‘world’s biggest cemetery’

Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, known for his colourful language, has suggested Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu crush Gaza and turn the Hamas-controlled territory into the “world’s biggest cemetery”, after escalating attacks from both sides left more than 2,000 people dead.

Israel relentlessly bombarded the Gaza Strip with hundreds of air strikes after Palestinian militants last Saturday rained rockets on the Jewish state and gunmen stormed its cities, killing hundreds and abducting dozens, including foreigners. Duterte told broadcaster SMNI News that if he were Netanyahu, he would eliminate Hamas by razing the sealed-off enclave to the ground.

“I will crush Hamas. I will give civilians 48 hours to get out of the place. If not, I will flatten it. No more Gaza to fight for,” said Duterte, who retired from politics in 2022 after completing his six-year term in office.

He also urged civilians to back off because he would “pulverise Gaza and make it the biggest cemetery in the world”. Duterte has made controversial remarks and insulted world leaders in the past, including Pope Francis and former US president Barack Obama, whom he once called “son of a w***e”.

Hahah. True.

"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."

But in this particular case, one has to choose sides.

Unfortunately for those who see Hamas as freedom fighters, Islam is not compatible with the civilized world because it is stuck in the 7th century (and not in the better parts of that ancient world, if any).

Bottom line, we have to choose whether we want to permit the butchery and insanity of 7th-century Islam to exist in our world or not.

I vote for "Not."

I will argue that Islam is no central to the Palestinian problem.

At the root is property and that equates to money.

Islam and Muslims have always had a strong interest in booty. But it (Islam) is still a “religion” (albeit a perverted one).

As you know, once a land is conquered by Islam, it is considered permanently Islamic. That's why Israel will be under attack until they abandon their claims to the Levant and leave.

So, it is certainly about "property"...but it is because that property belongs to the Islamic Empire.

SCORCHED EARTH POLICY, Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman embarked on a scorched-earth campaign intended to cripple the South’s war-making capacity and wound the Confederate psyche. Sherman’s army marched 285 miles (458 km) east from Atlanta to the coastal town of Savannah, which surrendered without a siege. You will never kill the psyche of fanitics, but you can the capacity.

You’re exactly right — get on with it and don’t disclose your timetable or schedule!

As usual Duterte’s exaggeration shows he is often over the top.

As opposed to turning all of Gaza into a cemetary, I, if I were Israel, would insist all residents of Gaza must leave Gaza, as they have shown they will never live in peace with Israel, and then I’d occupy and annex Gaza to Israel proper, forever.

Still need to watch Egypt, but removing Gaza as an Israeli front should become at least part of the price paid for this.

>...all residents of Gaza must leave Gaza...

Additional clause needed. They may NOT go to the West Bank and West Bank Palis can't repopulate Gaza. Collect fingerprints and other bio identifiers on their way out of Gaza to aid enforcement of their lifetime exclusion from Israel. And zero allowed in US (ideally or Europe) as refugees. Give them all to the Muslim majority world. They created the problem by refusing them initially and by keeping them refugees. They, only, should have to take the responsibility for them now.

Supposedly there are a couple thousand Christian arabs in Gaza. Might consider excluding them from the expulsion and allowing immigration of persecuted Christians from other middle eastern countries to help fill the void.

“Additional clause needed.”

The Arab states from 1948 have participated in or aided the wars against Israel, helping to insure peaceful relations across the former “Palestine; could not occur.

The U.S. should cut off all funds to the U.N. outside of the security council and insist the Arab nations must pay for all humanitarian support for Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as resettlement of the folks in Gaza.

Isael (1) took in Jewish refugees fleeing the Arab Middle East states after 1948 and (2) gave Israeli citizenship to Arabs that remained in Israel, while (3) the Arab states did not give citizenship to Palestine Arabs who went there, and kicked out most all the Jews that have lived in those states for centuries. It’s way past time the Arab states pay for the mulitstate crisis they helped create.

World’s biggest cemetery??? If the entire population were to be killed and buried there this morning, the cemetery wouldn’t amount to the size of a pimple on the butt of the Leftist-Communist cemeteries caused by the leaders of China, Soviet Union, Cambodia, Nazi Germany, and others.
