Why Elvis’s cousin has Mississippi all shook up
The Hill ^ | 10/11/2023 | MARGARET MCMULLAN

It’s election year in Mississippi, and for the first time in a long while, we have a gubernatorial candidate who appeals to Democrats, independents and centrist Republicans. He even has a famous last name that strikes a sweet chord in every Mississippi heart: Presley. Brandon Presley. On Nov. 7, Elvis’s second cousin hopes to unseat GOP Gov. Tate Reeves.

I first became aware of Presley when he responded to Reeves’s January State of the State address, which featured the standard chest thumping, calling 2022 “the best year in Mississippi’s history” and railing against “the expansion of ObamaCare.” Presley spoke from a “closed down emergency room inside a shut down hospital” in Newton, Miss., the hospital where I was born.

And if he is a democrat he is lying to himself, lying to everybody else, and happy about it.

He is...is...and probably is.

When I went to Graceland, I was really surprised of how many of Elvis’ “cousins” there are. Every souvenir shop had one sitting there.

No time for a ‘centrist’. Our nation and culture are in deep peril and a centrist will just exacerbate it

Sounds like a GOPe move to get rid of the fiscal-prudent Governor. Their (R) candidates are failing bigly.

The media-controllers are just wishful thinking/gaslighting here. And also trying to taint Reeves with the “Brett Favre scandal”. It might work, but it probably won’t. They aren’t sparing any expense trying, though.

Reeves (R) is the centrist in this race. The best that liberal Elvis (D) could have done is hope to force a runoff. The 3rd candidate (since withdrawn) in the race was a racist/leftist harpie who was probably forced out by the Democrats because she was going to take votes away from Elvis.

There you have it. The declining culture is the root of most of our national decline.

We are suffering from deep seated cultural rot. If the culture cannot be turned around, there's no chance of undoing the widespread damage that has already been done to this nation.

But changing the current ethos will take a long time, if its even possible.

The only time the GOP moves to do anything is when its against its own party members who want to do responsible things.

The worst thing about this news will be all the headlines in the future like this one.
How many Elvis songs do YOU know?

I’m from Mississippi and unfortunately this guy is likely to win. The famous last name will likely carry him to the governor’s office. MS usually votes along racial lines so he’s already starting out with 40$ of the vote just because he’s got a D behind his name. The Presley name will get all the 70 year old grandma’s who remember having the hots for Elvis in his prime. That’ll be enough to put him over the top.

Elvis did have an Army of cousins residing in Mississippi as well as Tennessee. Most of whom he never really bothered to see or kept in contact with.

One time Elvis’ friend and employee Marty Lacker was down in Tupelo, Mississippi when he ran across a few of Elvis’ cousins. Marty said to them, “I hear you’re Elvis’ cousins.” To which they replied, “Yeah? So what?”

So idiotic that red states have run offs. That’s where we lost Georgia. In 2019, we would have won at least one senate seat if not for the run off and would have had another seat in the senate.

Yet, nowhere in this article does the author state that Pressley is running as a Democrat. The Dem label is toxic in much of the U.S. today.
