The Biden re-election campaign's decision to brand the economy under the president's name (Bidenomics) is looking like an early blunder that misread the public's deep pessimism about how things are going on that front.
Why it matters: Despite some encouraging economic trends — unemployment is low, inflation seems to be tamed — polling shows that Americans' overall perception of the economy is sour.
Driving the news: Some prominent Democrats are now openly criticizing the Biden campaign's strategy, arguing that it appears to be in denial of Americans' economic reality.
Zoom in: One of the Biden campaign's first advertisements carried a Reaganesque "Morning in America" vibe, arguing the nation's economy is "leading the world" while crediting the president's agenda for bringing the U.S. back from the brink.
By the numbers: Only 28% of Americans said they were "very" or "somewhat" satisfied with the state of the economy in a new NBC poll — the lowest level of economic satisfaction in nearly a decade of the network's polling.
Between the lines: Look beyond the headlines and it's easy to see why so many middle- and working-class Americans are feeling economic pain.
What they're saying: "Next year's election is going to be a choice. We're talking about a vision of Bidenomics and his accomplishments, versus the other side who are all united in the same kind of right-wing MAGAnomics agenda like the Trump tax cuts geared to the wealthiest corporations," a Biden campaign adviser told Axios.
Reality check: Democrats still hold a narrow 1-point edge on the congressional generic ballot in the NBC poll — a reminder that the economy isn't the only issue driving voter concerns.
The bottom line: It's never easy for any incumbent to make the case for re-election when public opinion is so fickle, but it's especially risky to claim victory when the economic battle is still raging.
George Orwell is calling. We were not in an economic crisis when lyin Biden took office. Covid threw the economy into a recession, which we were rapidly coming out of when lyin Biden took office. The economy grew at a real annualized rate of 35% in the third quarter of 2020. That is the highest quarterly growth rate ever recorded.
The economy grew at a robust rate of nearly 6% in 2021, and dramatically slowed to a below average 2% in 2022, along with exploding inflation and interest rates. Of course 2021 was lyin Biden's first year in office. It is a rule of thumb that the economy in a President's first year in office is more or less a continuation of the previous administration. Lyin Biden's policies began to fully kick in in 2022 (though his anti-drilling policies were already being felt in 2021). Growth is forecast to come in around 2% again in 2023. The Conference Board forecasts a pathetic growth rate of 0.8% next year.
What? The mail in ballot machines can’t keep up with what is needed to get Biden another record vote?
The welfare class has expanded. The middle class is shrinking. The elite is all for Biden. So it doesn’t matter how much of a screw up Biden is.
Ya think? The gaslighting isn’t working.
And it’s all on purpose.
Next they’ll try saying they want the border less open!
Uh, branDUHnomics! We are not in a good place currently thanks the the killer policies put in place.
It’s not the branding. It’s what’s in the box. By any name, what this administration has done is destroying America, workers first. (I almost wrote consumers, but that would include the welfare classes, who are waxing fat and happy.)
What is gas in California now? $7.00 a gallon?
What a steaming pile of manure.
* Inflation is raging and no sign of abating
* “His campaign ads laud the passage of COVID emergency funds” — that is EXACTLY what triggered inflation. You can’t print $5 trillion out of thin air, pump it into the economy, and have everybody stay home from work, not produce anything, and NOT trigger massive inflation.
* the bipartisan infrastructure law — what has that done?
* the Inflation Reduction Act — the biggest scam act in history. It’s nothing but the “green energy act” and government is funding every loser energy scheme under the sun — EXCEPT producing oil, natural gas and coal.
People know or sense all of this and they are believing their eyes, not the smoke blown up their asses by evil democrats.
There are three or four big issues:
1. Economy — Dems have ruined it
2. Border — Doesn’t exist. Dems have ruined it.
3. Crime — All the extreme left laws and ultra-left DAs and mayors have destroyed our cities. Businesses are fleeing leftist cities hurting the poor who live there
4. Energy — the infantile pursuit of “green” energy without a clue how to build and electric economy or even asking “do we NEED to convert the economy to electric power?”
+ Brandon up to his old tricks and plagiarized bidenomics from reganomics
a brandon turd is still a turd.
He's right, except for the "hasn't fully recovered" part. It is NOT in recovery and it won't recover until we get another pro-business president, a man who has built and run businesses.
This is how millions of people feel.
It’s just going to take them all to stand up and say enough is enough.

We might even have the Governor of New York State saying we need LIMITS on immigration! Imagine that!?

Perhaps Americans are sour on the economy because so many of them have to work a 2nd job (hence the “low unemployment” numbers in official stats) to pay the outlandish cost of food, energy, housing, insurance, medical care, etc. - and because EVERYONE knows that government inflation stats are nothing but a big, fat lie.
