On the brink of a federal government shutdown, the House on Saturday swiftly approved a 45-day funding bill to keep federal agencies open as Speaker Kevin McCarthy dropped demands for steep spending cuts and relied on Democratic votes for passage to send the package to the Senate.

The new approach would leave behind aid to Ukraine, a White House priority opposed by a growing number of GOP lawmakers, but the plan would increase federal disaster assistance by $16 billion, meeting President Joe Biden’s full request. The package was approved 335-91, with most Republicans and almost all Democrats supporting. the bill.

With hours to go before the midnight deadline to fund the government, the Senate was also in for a rare weekend session and prepared to act next.

No one gives a damn about sob stories. Grow a set.

Unfortunately, they're effective. The only person who was good with his messaging was Ronald Reagan. So if you're going to do something like this, you need to have a plan in place on how to handle the media. It can be done. But you have to have a strategy. And it won't be easy.

Not yet, but I’m coming around on the 19th.

We won't have it in the future. We'll be more like Russia. Or one of the countries in the Middle East.

Name one time when a Republican government shutdown didn’t pick up seats for Republicans in the House and Senate. Hint it wasn’t under Reagan. You don’t know what you are talking about. You are just a spineless pussy like most RINOs.

I don't believe we know unless a rep tells us. Or media. But who and what to believe. Biden's 16 billion for federal disaster relief could be anything he wants to spend it on. If it's to fund FEMA, I assume it would be natural disasters. Hawaii, maybe East Palestine, Ohio?

But if it's Biden's slush fund he could use it to house and feed illegals. NY has been begging.

100%

I don’t see any likelihood that we can turn that clock back, but I’m pretty old and based on my years of experience, I have become convinced that women cannot make good decisions. They just can’t.

Yes but that is always the case. Kevin lacks courage and grit. It’s just a fact.

McCarthy screwed us again. I hope someone has the courage to vote for a Motion to Vacate. He’s a traitor and hasn’t kept a single promise he made to the conservatives in the House.

Kevin may be a RINO but it’s not really his fault. Other Republican Speakers had the same problem. Newt was our best Speaker we had in the modern era and he was very smart. But he still lost to Bill Clinton.

The point is that we are in Vegas. And the House is always stacked against us because we are Republicans. The Democrats are the House, that’s why you always see them win. If you play poker, sometimes the best thing you can do is to fold your hand.

Newt won a few big victories. So far Kevin has not won anything against a POTUS who does not know what room his in half of the time.

Well you cant really go by the opposing votes. It is real easy to vote against something that you know is going to pass.

That was the only play Kevin McCarthy had.

Yes, the only play for the sniveling backstabber party leader.

Apparently no spending cuts and nothing on border security.
