When Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy discovered the Washington Post’s Emily Heil had contacted his advertisers and labeled him as a person with a “history of misogynistic comments,” he took matters into his own hands and called her.
Portnoy posted the 11-minute confrontation in its entirety on Twitter. Heil initially lies, saying she didn’t characterize Portnoy as a misogynistic racist, before being confronted with her own words.
“We have this Pizza-fest happening on Saturday, and you’re reaching out to our advertisers,” Portnoy said. “You’re basically sending an e-mail that says, to the effect, ‘Dave’s a misogynic racist. Do you want to defend yourselves advertising at this event?’ Right?” he asked Heil. Heil, seemingly taken aback, didn’t even realize it was Portnoy who had called her.
“I’m sorry. Who are you?” she asked.
“I’m the guy you’re writing the article about, Dave Portnoy,” he replied.
Heil initially denied the accusation, claiming “I haven’t said anything like that.”
But apparently Portnoy brought receipts. He read a portion of an e-mail Heil sent to one of Portnoy’s advertisers, which he also posted to his website.

It really is worthwhile to listen to the entire recorded phone call posted at twitter (or whatever it is called now).
Very interesting.
I think that the WaPo had standards once. Not sure, though, since looking back I cannot find any proof.
He should sue her and The Post.
L
defamation lawsuit?
Doesn’t allow the (fill in blank with favorite pejorative term) to cancel him because she doesn’t like his politics.
She was busted.
Yeah what business does the wapo have contacting advertisers of a private citizen except to drum up a news story against Portnoy
So she emails his sponsors and made an unverified accusation? He should sue them for every dime they have.
“Dishonest Wapo Reporter.” Wow! A triple redundancy! Is there an internet prize for that?
It’s the toxic cancel culture. That reporter thinks she’s being virtuous and making the world a better place by contacting his advertisers.
People like her are a blight on the culture.
This nonsense won't get stopped until she's fired and bankrupt and loses her house over the lawsuit.
i answered a survey from a Goucher College press and the reporter called me to get more questions answered but she was coming from a totally opposing view that her questions were misleading and i told her so and that i wouldn’t answer anything for her article because she was so dishonest in her questioning... her referencing J6 as a bloody insurrection was one.

Hopefully, this “journalist” ends up being the Poster Child for the consequence of slander/cancel culture.
We could turn it into a verb- “Don’t contact advertisers and accuse their clients of being misogynists or you will get HEILED.”
—”I think that the WaPo had standards once. “
They sold them long ago.
Sieg Heil
