… While some families never stopped masking, a recent Yahoo News/YouGov survey of 1,665 adults in the U.S. found that just 12% had practiced regular mask-wearing outside of the home over the previous week.

Dr. Zachary Hoy, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Pediatrix in Nashville, says he doesn’t believe that families should overreact to the uptick in COVID-19 cases just yet, though it is worth monitoring.

If your family decides to return to masking, Amodio suggests including kids in any discussions. “Help them to understand the reasons behind the choice, and be sure to validate their emotions even if those emotions are anger, frustration or annoyance,” she says.
Now that community mask-wearing is less common, it’s important for kids to learn ways to advocate for themselves around peers and feel more empowered. Some phrases Amodio suggests to help kids communicate their return to masking include: “This is how I feel most comfortable,” “I prefer to wear a mask for personal reasons,” “I have a compromised immune system” or “I have a loved one with a compromised immune system.”
Darby Fox, a licensed clinical social worker and author of Rethinking Your Teenager, says a simple statement should be sufficient to stop anyone from probing a child’s decision to wear a mask.
“If a child is wearing a mask at school and others inquire or make fun, the best thing to say is, ‘I need to protect a family member,’” she says. “Hopefully we are teaching our children to be empathetic and nonjudgmental regarding these health choices.”
Fox says that while kids may be worried or resistant if they have to wear masks again, it’s also best to remind them it’s only temporary and that it helps keep people who are compromised safe.

Right, just when is it the right time overreact?
The sheep should all wear masks and get the benefits of concentrated bacteria from within and lower O2 intake by rebreathing your own exhalations. If they all wear those things I can tell at a glance who is not worth talking to and who will be prone to catch whatever is going around.
The two great things about ‘experts’
1: They are usually wrong.
2: Their opinions are usually cheaply purchased.
Ok, that’s funny.
Answer to the question, not no but (bleep) no.
I was doing a pick up at a liquor store this afternoon. Walked by a guy going out of the liquor store with a mask on. I said, just a little louder than under my voice, “Biden voter”. I don’t know if he heard me.
Instant Dim-o-crap identification.
Better yet, cough in their general direction.
Maybe had. a cold or flu and was masked to protect others.
They have been doing that in Japan for years .
….
What in the world are we doing listening to social workers for any advice?
Which reminds me, I need to put up a chain link fence to keep the mosquitoes out.
no. they can’t work even for a minute, unless you wear them over your eyes, and your ears, too.
i won’t even get into the deleterious health effects of long duration mask wearing, which health pro’s do not do. they do not wear the same mask all day, but yet that’s what these kids are forced to do? atrocious nonsense.
the point is numerous studies have proven little or no effect in ‘slowing,’ let alone stopping respiratory virus with any of these mass public-health measures. they’re all bollocks, and worse they invite gov’t medical tyranny.
Now, hey you, mister, can’t you read?
You’ve got to have a mask and jab to get a seat
You can’t even watch, no you can’t eat
You ain’t supposed to be here
The sign said you got to have a vaccination card to get inside...Ugh!
No. I spent years in Japan. Kyoto and Nara mostly, riding the train to and from work. They wear a mask as a courtesy to signal others to keep their distance. It’s not to protect anyone from pathogens. It’s just being polite, which is foundational in their culture.
There you are flogging for the clot shot again. Have you no semblance of a normal life?
