A nationwide social experiment launched by a wave of marijuana legalizations is finally bearing results in the form of higher depression rates and addiction.
It started in 2012 in Colorado and Washington, setting off a domino effect that has seen restrictions lifted across nearly 40 states, including 23 where it's legal to use marijuana recreationally.
The Biden administration now aims to demote the drug from its schedule I status, which lumped it in with heroin and LSD, to schedule III, the first step toward total decriminalization at a federal level.
Marijuana has been lauded for its purported benefits for pain relief and anxiety treatment among other applications, all while believed users could not become addicted.
Now, more than 40million adults – 16 percent of the population – use marijuana, a rate that has more than doubled in the last 10 years amid a seismic cultural shift that sees more acceptance toward medical and recreational use.
But it turns out the seemingly harmless drug may not be so benign and could pose physical and mental health issues.
DailyMail.com detailed the health risks and benefits associated with cannabis use.

Links to severe mental health issues To much of the public, marijuana is relatively innocuous compared to illicit narcotics.
But many researchers have come to the conclusion this view is false, especially when a person uses the drug on a regular basis.
Researchers from the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark recently delved into the records of more than 6.6 million people in Denmark born between 1985 and 2021 and found of those with cannabis use disorder - defined as being unable to stop using in spite of it causing damage to their health and social lives - about 41 percent of those individuals were diagnosed with major depression.

You dont really mean that, because if you did your quite the idiot. because the arguements against weed are the the same as alcohol. it ruins lives.
ever watch " on patrol live"? most of the the cops interactions involve drunks and stoners.
There's no way to stop evil men from doing evil. its their nature, thats why they are called "evil".
All good people can do is raise their children to avoid the culture of " its ok to get drunk and high" because its not.
” Weed legalization has not helped the state of our nation at all...”
In my opinion the legalization of drugs, especially marijuana is mainly intended to reduce the number of blacks in prison. The same is true for many laws not currently being enforced.
...The primary problem with the current available cannabis in dispensaries in Colorado is that the THC content is not like it used to be. Prior to the 1990s it was less than 2%. In the 1990s it grew to 4%, and between 1995 and 2015 there has been a 212% increase in THC content in the marijuana flower...
The ignorant, ill, and impaired are far, far easier to rule.
Why Deep State just loves legal weed.
From 1995-2021.
“The ignorant, ill, and impaired are far, far easier to rule.”
Also, the stoned, and those dependent on govt. handouts.
Alcohol is far more deleterious to society than weed is.
I’m fine with both being legal, and I don’t consume either.
People will use both whether legal or not.
Alcohol made the mob rich and powerful.
Weed was the cartels main source of income.
Q: Do we have a national standard for what constitutes THC intoxication behind the wheel?
I have been smoking for over 40 years. I am 65 have 4 houses $1.2 million in my investment account. Debt free no college. Been happily married for 38 years. Run my own business with over $100k per year income. I don’t even vote democrat. Never had the JAB. Completely ignored all the COVID precautions and lockdowns. Never even got sick during the whole scamdemic. Where did I go wrong???? Maybe I should have taken SRIs like most people I know. Also I don’t take any prescription drugs. Haven’t been to the doctor in 20 years. Don’t know or care what my cholesterol is or blood pressure or blood sugar levels. I guess I screwed up somewhere no??
I do not believe so. I don’t know if there’s even a way to properly determine.
You can fail a drug test a couple weeks after smoking.
At least that’s what I have heard.
We now have governments promoting the sale of pot. The same ones that want to eliminate tobacco. Filthy hypocrites.
If you are smoking anything, you are screwing up. Weed is Hell on your lungs
My crop is drying in the basement.
Oh and it’s Purple Pineapple
i did cbd for awhile- and found it did have THC in it- although a small amount- i reacted badly to it ie- got paranoid for hours- pot always affected me like that- (There is a group of people that react badly to even small amounts- where it is not enjoyable, and causes paranoia apparently- i never enjoyed it-) as for pain relief- which was why i tried it, nope- not even a smidgen of relief- I even tried the RSO oil which is apparently concentrated cbd- but still no real relief- it did help sleep though
For anyone wanting to try it though- who might be disabled or a veteran i beleive- lazarus naturals makes it and offers significant discount
I’ll check out the Naturna
How does it compare to alcohol?
I am not a weed supporter. But we have to be honest with ourselves.
States are spending milliond to stop people from smoking or even vaping due to the real or percieved health threats, but now are legalizing pot which is smoked and recognized to have e physical health consequences on par with cigarette smoking not to mention mental health issues. See.s like hypocrisy to me
I’m not arguing making it illegal - heck, areas all over the US are legalizing it now.
I may not like that, but there are many reasons why we at least need good regulation.
I have seen what happens to many people who smoke pot routinely, and I’ve seen what happens to people around them.
I believe folks who argue FOR decriminalization have to be honest about the downside to that “right” to toke or drink up.
Use of controlled substances come with a variety of Bad Things That Can Happen. To argue otherwise is disingenuous. Further, pot presents a sort of “Jekyll & Hyde” conundrum, where many older pro-decriminalization folks recall fondly their youthful experimentation and are clueless that pot today is more manufactured - and powerful/toxic - than the grown mellow yellow of yesteryear. It’s not meth, but it’s not grass.
The freedom to smoke pot isn’t explicitly guaranteed like the right to keep and bear arms. That said, I see a slippery slope whereby anti-gun folks will claim pot and guns both present a “public health hazard” and seek to harmonize the penalties for Bad Things. Well-meaning conservatives won’t see the trap, and will argue for heightened regulation of demon pot, before it’s too late.
I think there remains a bit of that old school puritan strain in some conservatives when it comes to vices. I get it.
