Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton was reinstated to office Saturday after the state Senate voted to acquit him on all 16 articles of impeachment that had been voted against him by the House of Representatives.
"Today the truth prevailed," Paxton wrote in a release shared on X, the platform previously called Twitter. "The truth could not be buried by mudslinging politicians or their powerful benefactors. I've said many times: Seek the truth! And that is what was accomplished."
Paxton faced 16 articles of impeachment that alleged he used his power and office to help donor-investor Nate Paul work through legal difficulties. He was also accused of accepting bribes in the form of renovations to his home. One of the articles of impeachment was about a job from Nate Paul for a woman with whom Paxton was having an extramarital affair.
He denied all allegations and the state Senate voted to acquit him on all counts Saturday.
Paxton promised in the press release to continue his job as attorney general and defend constitutional rights.
"Now that this shameful process is over, my work to defend our constitutional rights will resume," he added. "Thank you to everyone who has stood with us during this time."
"I will address the nation and Texas on Tucker Carlson next week," Paxton's statement concluded. "Now it is back to work!"
Jeez! Do I have to add all these guys/gals to my Deep State/ Rino List? ;-)

Are these the kind that lose with dignity?
Prosecute the ring speaker
That AG needs to go on the warpath.
“I believe if some of those house members realized there was NO evidence (I mean literally none), their vote might have been different.”
Then why did they vote for something where no evidence was shown? Their vote was corruption!
Even for these Texas districts....there are various lobbyists who make it their job to handcuff candidates to agendas. I suspect if you went to all of these Republican House members in Texas....they’d respond that such-and-such lobbyist group gave them a mandate, and they reacted. It might be worth asking...who?
Many of those house repubs were first timers. They got bamboozled into voting against the AG by some senior politicians. First term and last term for my rep Orr.
I agree with you on all counts.

I guess I would say it was handled so badly that everyone looks bad (except for house members who voted against impeachment.) Your point is correct.
Home of the Alamo.
“My name is Attorney General Ken Paxton, and I’m here to get acquitted and destroy the Bush crime family.
And I’m all out of acquittals...”
