Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton was reinstated to office Saturday after the state Senate voted to acquit him on all 16 articles of impeachment that had been voted against him by the House of Representatives.
"Today the truth prevailed," Paxton wrote in a release shared on X, the platform previously called Twitter. "The truth could not be buried by mudslinging politicians or their powerful benefactors. I've said many times: Seek the truth! And that is what was accomplished."
Paxton faced 16 articles of impeachment that alleged he used his power and office to help donor-investor Nate Paul work through legal difficulties. He was also accused of accepting bribes in the form of renovations to his home. One of the articles of impeachment was about a job from Nate Paul for a woman with whom Paxton was having an extramarital affair.
He denied all allegations and the state Senate voted to acquit him on all counts Saturday.
Paxton promised in the press release to continue his job as attorney general and defend constitutional rights.
"Now that this shameful process is over, my work to defend our constitutional rights will resume," he added. "Thank you to everyone who has stood with us during this time."
"I will address the nation and Texas on Tucker Carlson next week," Paxton's statement concluded. "Now it is back to work!"
This will be great!
Paxton is an impressive guy.
For those who dont know much about him wait until you see this interview and you’ll know what I mean.
Could be big for him.
And let us not forget:

The list that voted to not impeach is much shorter.
He interviews very well and he seems sincere to me.
Goober Texas House Speaker Phelan is crying.
I’ve liked him for years and said his race for AG was one of the most important (to stop Bush).
Seems crazy an AG race in TX would be so important but I think it was.
Texas Freepers knew what I meant and got the job done.
This could be a breakout interview for him
“Stay outta da Bushes...”
The Bushies took one in the ying yang.
If George Bush had won, he would have opposed Abbott’s to minimize the harm to Texas.
It was important for sure.
He would be a good candidate for President.
Defeating Bush in Texas is great for his resume’. It’ll get mentioned whenever he does interviews.
He’s on the up and he’s a conservative stalwart.
Good to see.
Oh for sure he has a bright future whatever he decides to do
This interview will be closely watched
No mercy!
They messed with the bull, now here come the horns.
Paxton bump for later....
“The list that voted to not impeach is much shorter.”
Three quarters of Texas House Republicans voted to Impeach him. Only 2 of 18 Senate Republicans did the same.
...which leads to the OBVIOUS question: What the hell were the House Republicans thinking when they took their vote, their vote to bring down one of their own? House Republican Primaries might be very interesting next year...
Time for retribution!
Paxton should have every last one of them indicted for malfeasance and corruption.
Paxton for President.
