Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko on Friday ordered the closure of 74 churches belonging to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), citing its alleged “direct ties” to the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Klitschko’s decree is similar to that used to seize the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, or Monastery of the Caves, which Ukrainian police stormed last month. The world-famous holy site, which is nearly 1,000 years old, was handed over to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, a rival organization set up by the government in 2018.

“Try reading the article. It says Ukrainian Orthodox Churches specifically.”
You need to read more. The churches being closed are all loyal to the Russian Orthodox Church. That’s why they are being closed. Danny is wrong to insinuate they are not Christian, but he is spot on to say they are Russian Orthodox because they are all loyal members of the Ukrainian Orthodox patriachate that is loyal to the Patriarch of Moscow.
Those are the facts. Accept them.
Still defending evil, as usual.
The Globalists’ legacy is Orthodox Fratricide.
Kyrie eleison.
Globalist trollscum need to be excised from FR as the warmongering cancer that they are.
If a Ukrainian says it. It just is not true. Can’t believe a word any of them say.
You actually expect people to believe that? LOL
Done with you and Danny boy.
Your ignorance is astounding.
Both the Catholic and Orthodox are twin branches of the SAME CHRISTIAN [AS IN “CHRIST”, DUH] CHURCH.
But go ahead, add religious persecution to your nazi Ukies. Its all good. The “deserve” it, right commie?
Once again, the infighting on this thread shows what a laughable joke it is when the left refers to the “right-wing media echo chamber.”
“They only want us to pray Ukraine wins.”
I understand. I must admit that I have not prayed enough for Ukraine, Russia, their poor peoples, their leaders, etc. I’m going to rectify that as best as I can. Pray for the poor people on both sides. I want Ukraine to remain an independent country but I freely admit I hate to see all the casualties on any side. So many young men are being wasted when we need them the most. The only reason for this war is arrogance - ours, theirs, everyone’s.
“I think their winning may be a big mistake and bad for Americans.”
I don’t think their winning would change anything. I do think Russia winning would mean more war with the Baltic States being next.
“Let Russia win and they can pay to fix Ukraine.”
Russia will put up new buildings but not fix anything. Ukraine will just far worse. There won’t be any winners in this mess, only losers.
Closing 74 churches...More Ethic cleansing.
Russia split Ukraine from Poland by appealing to Orthodox Christian unity. The Ukrainians have regretted that ever since.
Got some proof of that other than your posting it?
oops...ethnic
“These Zeepers have totally went to the other side and don’t even recognize that they have.”
Despite the “Pray for Ukraine” rhetoric, a number of them really have some really dark hearts.
I think most of us realize that most soldiers in wars are just young men who are there for a job or are conscripted, regardless of the government is.
I understand the feel to celebrate a victory for the side you hope wins.
But they if there’s a story about a single Russian soldier that was sniped or lost his legs, they’ll be rejoicing in the demise of this individual as if he lacks humanity and personally deserves suffering and death.
Early in my adult life I lived for a short time in a small city close to Pittsburgh and it had an Eastern European heavy population and many orthodox churches. Our neighbors were mostly orthodox and as I recall, were a very devout people. They were at worship for all of the many holy days the orthodox celebrate. They were good folks.
“If a Ukrainian says it. It just is not true. Can’t believe a word any of them say.”
Okay, so you don’t believe any of the Russian speaking Ukrainians either, right? I mean, after all, they’re Ukrainians.
“You actually expect people to believe that? LOL”
If they believe in truth, they will realize there is plenty of evidence of pro-Russian sympathy in the UOC. I would expect nothing less in a Church loyal to Moscow. After the Feofaniia conference, however, the issue became more complicated. I think this is being done for the sake of safety for Ukraine than anything else.
“Done with you and Danny boy.”
No loss for us.
That being said, Ukraine is a pawn in the Great Power game between the West and the Russia-China-Iran axis. The West wants to weaken and possibly have a "color revolution" in Russia. The Russians and Chinese are trying to end American world hegemony. Unfortunately, too many conservatives have fallen into the Russia good, China bad trap. It is amazing how much mileage Putin gets out of attending the liturgy on a Sunday or two. However, the Red Star still tops the Kremlin and Lenin's tomb holds a place of honor at Red Square.
Until very recently, liberals were saying Russia bad, China good. CCP money has been strategically used to bribe politicians from Biden on down and Fortune 500 companies and our oligarchs. They were foolish, and the more perceptive of them are recognizing that China aims to topple the United States.
“It IS a Christian church.”
https://demokratizatsiya.pub/archives/01-4_armes.pdf
The Russian Orthodox Church is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the KGB/FSB.
It most definitely is not a Christian church.
“And Ukraine can judge whether or not it’s in Ukraine’s best interest to let a Russian linked church organization continue in it’s territory.”
Soon to come: “And Biden can judge whether or not it’s in America’s best interest to let a Christian organization linked to white supremacy separatist groups (read:non-wokechurch) continue in its territory.”
At least you’re honest that you align with the CCP on religious freedom.
Here’s what one of the lead globalist warmonger cheerleaders has to say:
I don’t want to see Russia conquered. I want it eradicated.

I pray that 5he fighting and dying stops
“The legacy of the Soviet Union lives on in Ukraine.”
and not just the war on Christian churches in Ukraine. Where is all of the political opposition? - they have disappeared.
Where is the opposition media outlets? - they have disappeared.
Where has the multi-billion dollars sent by Diden to Ukraine gone? - it has disappeared and there is no record of how it was spent.
Is this USSR-like, or not?????
