Subway service on the W line is resuming Wednesday night after it was suspended most of the day following a vandalism spree on Tuesday evening.
The MTA said a vandal or vandals smashed 78 windows on 35 trains from the inside. It appears it happened while the trains were in service.
Service was suspended overnight Tuesday and for most of the day Wednesday up until the evening commute.
So many windows were damaged that officials said they were running out of spare glass to make repairs.
By around 11 a.m. Wednesday, 25 trainsets had been repaired, but hundreds of thousands of commuters were impacted by the damage before service resumed shortly after 5 p.m.

They still use glass? Why not polycarbonate plastic.
When arrests for shopliting are not made, and assults cause no bail before same day release and just a DAT (Desk Appearence Ticket - date to go to court), and all other crimes are up, of course vandals are not worried about getting caught for breaking a bunch of subway car windows.
They need to make this into an anti public transit hate crime. Public transit is a sacred cow of the left. If they can do that the perps if caught will get life.

They may have been making a symbolic statement like the ones who burn American flags protected as “free speech.” With their mouths closed.
Denying others the right to a taxpayer funded service should include having perpetrators denied use of it, and possibly other transit systems within the same jurisdiction, for years.
These hoods will change their tune quickly when they have to pay for taxis or rideshare services for 5 or 10 years.
They kick out the plastic which then becomes a projectile. They also scratch it up to make "graffiti" on it, much of obscene and requiring replacement.

Entitlements cut to the persons of color and devoted to the budget for illegals can set off violence.
Cue the mindfulness meditation specialists. Sometimes the colors of the environment can be changed to a calming hue or there can be special sounds for calming moods.
And offer people these foods shown to calm moods:
Fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, trout, and herring....
Egg yolks , especially from pasture-raised hens....
Pumpkin seeds.....
Dark chocolate.....
Turmeric....
Chamomile....
Yogurt....
Green tea.
People dressed in plastic bags
Directing traffic
Some kind of fashion
Sha oobie
It makes no sense, destruction just for the sake of destruction. Takes a certain type of person. But you’re right, there are virtually no penalties for similar crimes. This one just impacted a lot of people all at once. They should have published a manifesto to explain their rationale.

This is a repeat of things that were happening in the 70s and 80s before Rudy became mayor - vandals graffitied and damaged subway train cars parked in fenced-in over night train yards, all the time. Very few were caught or punished.
