Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Tuesday said he will seek to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden based off the House GOP’s investigations into his family’s foreign business dealings.
“Today, I am directing our House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy said the probe will be led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) in coordination with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), who have been leading the investigations.
“I do not make this decision lightly. And regardless of your party, or who you voted for these facts should concern all Americans,” McCarthy said.

Now I am open to the possibility that McCarthy is playing the dragging feet/”I had no choice” posturing game, having Gaetz be the bad guy “forcing” McCarthy to direct the opening of the inquiry.
Nothing to get excited about. It’s just a distraction to blunt the attack against him that will be launched by Matt Gaetz at noon as he lays out the case to replace Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House.

The House will have to vote for it on Thursday I guess. Probably does not have enough votes. Also probable he is not trying very hard to get enough votes.
