The Burning Man disaster is ‘a teachable moment’ about climate change

Burning Man is supposed to arrive and disappear like the desert breeze.

Near the end of every summer, attendees of the multiday mega-festival venture to the Nevada wilderness. Their motto: “Leave no trace.”

This year, thousands got stuck in the mud instead after about a half an inch of rain hit what is normally the driest state in the nation. Instead of leaving no trace, many self-described “burners” abandoned bicycles and vehicles on the drenched, muddy Black Rock Desert.

Once an underground carnival for free spirits, Burning Man today is famous as a party spot for Hollywood stars, Silicon Valley tech bros and other jet-set elites. The latest event offers a glimpse at how extreme weather can — and more frequently will — dramatically transform the environment in a moment’s notice.

“It’s a teachable moment, as far as climate disasters and extreme weather” go, said Anya Kamenetz, a Burning Man attendee forced to flee the festival. “This is very much just a trial run under really, really easy conditions for what a lot of people go through.”

Every thing bad that happens is Climate Change.

It’s no different than Hitler blaming every bad thing that happens on The Jews.

“The leftards are simply control freaks. The fact that the weather is randon and the climate constantly changes over time is an anathema to them. It drives them crazy”

Excellent and creative post—exactly why I come here.

Slightly off topic—I was on a leftist filled sub-Reddit discussing the Hollywood strike and a lot of leftist and now unemployed writers were complaining about how they lived three people to a tiny apartment, had homeless people and needles outside their door and could barely afford groceries with all the inflation...

and it never occurred to them to move to a lower cost area and get a real job—all they want to do is blame the cruel capitalists...

Communist carbon evidently has no effect on the climate. It’s like Communist racism and xyz-phobia in that way.

Hippies and communists. Learn to prepare for wild weather, like people always have.

Literally…literally…the American population - at least those around 40 and under - are afraid, petrified of the weather. America is afraid of the weather. The weather.

How are they going to deal with starvation?

The Burning Man distaster is a teachable moment about paying attention to weather reports and avoiding mass crowds for any reason.

SUNDAY: “The Porta Potties are no longer usable” report showed mud INSIDE the door & on the seat area of the Porta Potty-—Completely unusable.

At that time, over 64,000 ‘Burners” were still there.

HOW MUCH CONTAMINATION HAS/IS occurring from this part of the event???

HOW MUCH ECOLOGICAL DAMAGE WILL THAT DO FOR HOW LONG????

THE HEAVY RUTS THEY HAVE CREATED WILL TAKE YEARS TO DISAPPEAR.

DISGUSTING and OBNOXIOUS

Many who RENTED cars & campers WALKED out 6 miles to state road to try & catch a ‘ride’.

IF they left their vehicles behind-—the rental agencies will have to send tow trucks up there WHEN IT IS DRY ENOUGH TO DO SO to retrieve their vehicles. Many are axle deep in mud.

100 buses without markings —some with—were sent from Reno to bring people back so they could fly out.

Neighbor SAW & COUNTED the buses when he was getting gas in Gerlach-—south of the Black Rock. HE WAS STUNNED.

IF the rental companies got hammered like this—I would recommend a NO RENT list for everyone who did that. JUST LIKE THE NO FLY LIST——They can NEVER RENT ANY TRANSPORTATION EVER AGAIN.

Try & tell me how “RESPONSIBLE” these idiots are.

THEY ARE NOT.....

The cost to even TRY to repair all the damage & retrieve all the vehicles & other items may be MORE than the Profits from the event.

IF IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN—it is fine with me.

I thought they got much more than 1/2 inch.

I live about 80 miles south of there & reports indicated more than that.

WE got multiple afternoons over the weekend that gave us HARD RAIN that was more than 1/2 inch. Lots of lightning & thunder, also.

Has anyone stopped to consider the HEAT put out by that massive fire, as well as all the carbon from the burning?
Add in the carbon from transportation to and from the event, the body heat from all of those people, the environmental impact on the creatures that live on and under the ground there?
The HORROR!

the lesson apparently is that rain causes mud when mixed well with various dirt compositions- thank goodness we have climate change dolts to explain climate change to us

Apparently we’ve never had muddy conditions anywhere- ever?

So when the lawsuits start coming in they will say it’s an act of God and Donald Trump.

The irony is incredible. They’re sitting out there in the desert on what is (usually) a dry lake bed. “Dry lake bed” means it used to be a lake, long ago before SUVs and the rest of modern life came along to cause “climate change.” And Nevada doesn’t just have one dry lake; it’s got a ton of them. So, before people were even on the continent, and certainly long before they somehow acquired the ability to “destroy the planet”, there were lakes all over the western deserts, which then, without any human help, completely dried up.

And now that a little rain has fallen and moistened the bone-dry desert soil for a few days, they’re all screaming “climate change!” I hold a very low opinion of these people, but I may have overestimated them.

The whole climate change hysteria is fuel by Communist China, which incidentally is building one coal fired power plant a week.

I think these poor Godless souls on the left just cant handle reality and that things change and are not under our control. Like the “climate”. They cannot accept that. They are dangerous. I have a hard time relating to them as human.

They’re just using changes in weather as an excuse to impose communism on us.

Tagline. Read.

Our side (as if there were one) should be pounding this
nonsense back, but as I intimated, there is no ‘our side’
any longer.

If Trump is prevented from becoming president again, this
nation is over.

He is the only person talking about taking our nation back.

Others don’t even see the global Leftist problem for what
it is.
