Liberty Safe Confirms They Gave Feds Access Code to Gun Safe During Raid on January 6 Protester
Red State ^ | 9/6/23 | Jennifer Van Laar

Posted on 09/06/2023 4:40:38 AM PDT by CFW

Liberty Safe, "America's #1 heavy-duty home and gun safe manufacturer," according to their website, issued a statement late Tuesday night confirming that they'd given the FBI an access code to a customer's gun safe in response to a request on August 30, 2023. That request came during a raid on the home of a man who'd attended a protest on January 6.

The statement reads:

On August 30, 2023, Liberty Safe was contacted by the FBI requesting the access code to the safe of an individual for whom they had a warrant to search their property. Our company protocol is to provide access codes to law enforcement if a warrant grants them access to a property. After receiving the request, we received proof of the valid warrant, and only then did we provide them with an access code. Liberty Safe had no knowledge of any of the details surrounding the investigation at the time.

Liberty Safe is devoted to protecting the personal property and 2nd amendment rights of our customers and has repeatedly denied requests for access codes without a warrant in the past. We do not give out combinations without proper legal documentation being provided by authorities.

- the FBI had a warrant.

I'm sure they did. the FBI can lie with impunity to any court in the nation and will always be given what they want, with no repercussions whatsoever. They are a criminal organization outside of the limits of the constitution. seriously, y’all are shocked they have a universal override on a digital safe?

I would never knowingly buy a safe with a back door. IDK what the outrage is about related to Liberty. The basis for charges on, but this?

Some of us actually want the things we pay for to function as advertised.

Apparently some here don't.

Unless said order expressly ordered the safe manufacturer to turn over the combination, then this company did NOT do the right thing, they did the “easy” and cowardly thing.

Exactly.

I’m actually more concerned for the knee-jerk reactions to fear-porn articles like this. Makes me wonder just what kind of folks would be so panicked by the realization that legal authorities with proper constitutional warrants can actually do their jobs.

Ah, I see. you're still one of those sheeple who believe we have a legitimate government.

After 2 1/2 years and unlimited resources the FIB had plenty of time to search every single purchase he has ever made. I am sure the credit card companies were more than happy to turn over every receipt. Adios America.

Two possibilities exist. Either the authorities were able to access the S/N of this specific safe OR there’s a universal access combination that will open any Liberty safe.

Big mistake for liberty safe. Just the fact that it was the FBI should have set off all sorts of alarm bells.

Any consumer grade safe is not very secure to a determined person looking to get into it.

I have a lock and tumbler safe for security reasons (was told more thieves are looking to break digital than old fashioned locks), but there is no way it would keep the Feds out.

Remember everyone upset Apple didn’t break the phone for those muslim shooters in California? Well... Looks like that problem is solved.

Not if they have a universal code to break into any device.

#1 The "criminal" was at the J6 protest. It's not clear if he even entered the building.
#2 No reason to think the search warrant included the safe. What evidence did they tell the judge they were looking for in a safe?
#3 This backdoor passcode means the FBI can open any Liberty safe.
#4 Liberty will tell you (the customer) to get a locksmith.
#5 Liberty had no obligation to give the access passcode to anybody.
#6 Were customers told the safe they were buying had a backdoor passcode and therefore it was insecure?

Even changing the code leaves the factory code intact. Guest codes can be added and removed, I believe.

Nate’s legal bills to fight these charges will be over $100,000, so we’re donating $5,000 to Nathan’s defense fund to start it out, and hope you can donate something too.

I hate to say it but Nate should probably see what he can get in a plea bargain, unless he wants to share a cell with the Proud Boys for the next twenty years.

From 4Chan:

Resetting the master code does nothing. Their backdoor supercedes whatever you do. There is no way to stop them from opening your safe for the feds if the feds want in, and they have demonstrated they will open it for the feds with no fight.

i can tell you this young grasshopper, the more sussy their company name sounds the more likely they work with glowies. ergo: liberty safe, american first lock, patriot front, etc.

I’ve worked in electronic locking hardware for 20 years. Every single electronic lock of any kind has a backdoor, and all of the ones for homes and apartments have backup codes for police, fire, military, etc. It’s billed as “emergency access” and also each lock has an audit trail, where every interaction with the lock is recorded.

This means if domestic surveillance breaks into your home to poke around, they will be in and out of any electronic locking device with no problem, and you will never know. And they do that all the time, since they can assign surveillance to make sure you are trapped at work, and not about to come back.

Liberty’s owners are also big donors to the democrats.

If this doesn’t put you off to them I guess nothing will.
