Agency head Yuri Borisov said Sarmat missiles have been placed on combat duty, according to Russian news agencies. Further details were not reported.
The Sarmat is one of several advanced weapons whose development Putin announced in 2018. The silo-based missile, capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads, is intended to replace the R-36 ICBMs that are known by the NATO reporting name of Satan.
The Sarmat reportedly has a short initial launch phase, allowing little time for surveillance systems to track it.
In 2022, about two months after sending troops into Ukraine, Putin said the Sarmat would “reliably ensure the security of Russia from external threats and make those who, in the heat of aggressive rhetoric, try to threaten our country, think twice.”

evil putin isn’t bright enough to save russia
Whoever is running our country wants a nuclear war. It was better when our leaders were elected.
Insert sarcastic remark about the competence of our President and his cronies here. Got something else more important going on right now.
Likely responses:
1. Head in sand (or other place where sun does not shine.)
2. Downplaying the threat as, “Oh, those things won’t work, everything Russian is crap.”
3. Desperately attempting to suddenly fast track missile defenses that they pooh-poohed, defunded and obstructed, then complain that ‘prior administrations didn’t give this needed security tool the priority it deserved.’
Or some combination of the above.
Since a lot of FReepers seem to go with #2 pretty instinctively, there are a lot of dead Turkish tankers that would like to talk to you about how “Russian missiles don’t work.” Also a lot of NATO armor officers that would tell you about the rude wakeup call they got and why NATO is all of a sudden rushing to retrofit APS systems onto tanks. Including the US, by the way. Meanwhile the Israelis are making a lot of money selling Trophy export systems and laughing at the panic when they’ve been telling us for literal decades this was what was going to happen.
“Be it ever so humble, forever and a day!”
Update!
Russia is on the move!
Russia is moving the Generalissimo Suvorov, a strategic nuclear submarine that can carry ballistic missiles with a range of 9,300 kilometres and nuclear warheads, to the Pacific Ocean
I’m thinking that was an autocorrect - the correct English translation is “Generalissimus Suvorov”. Similar concept, slightly different implications - namely that tinpot dictators never seem to use this term, instead preferring the Italian term Generalissimo. :P
Additionally, that would be one way to clean up the feces-soaked streets of West Coast cities... :P
Lol
First thing I thought of was Generalissimo Santa Anna at the Alamo.
Indeed 👍
Well, the best way to combat the drone hoards attacking Moscow is to destroy them and their operators at home base. If tactical artillery and missile s can’t reach them now, ICBM’s will.
Crazy russians have a song about the Sarmat missiles.
The RS-28 Sarmat Annihilates America in New Russian Military Song
Russia has yet again outdone itself with its recent pop song singing the praises of the RS-28 Sarmat. The song, “Sarmatushka,” sung by Denis Maidanov, was released on December 17, 2022, in addition to the music video for the song. Though the music video is a little cringe, the song itself sounds kind of catchy… at first. However, once you dive into the lyrics and the meaning of the song, all catchiness goes away. Maybe for Russia, this song is a banger, but for the rest of the world, it’s cringe-worthy and a downright threat.
Samartushka” is a recent Russian military song that glorifies the RS-28 Sarmat. It talks about the prowess of the Russian military and its ability to annihilate any and all “enemy threats,” such as the U.S.
The music video also shows a clip from a speech from Putin stating, “We have a legitimate right to respond. Yes, it would be a global catastrophe for humanity. But why do we need such a world in which Russia does not exist?” as well as clips of the Sarmat being launched.
Some of the lyrics from “Sarmatushka” have been translated. Some of the most “threatening” lyrics are, “Its will is stronger than the Ural Mountains/It’ll scatter our enemies to dust in an instant/It’s ready to carry out the sentence/The U.S.’s air defense is no hindrance to it/It’s not scared of sanctions/For the Sarmat there’s only pleasure/To disturb NATO’s dreams.”

JoBama is running our country and he wants to kill as many human beings as he possibly can because he is actually Beelzebub in the meat-sack of Barry Soetoro (we’re all in BIG trouble too).
Preferably nothing. He doesn’t want Ukraine having F-16s, just like he didn’t want them having any of the other gear. This is his way of intimidating the West into stopping it. Pure Maskirovka.
Our Boomers underwater will have the final say, Comrade.
Nobody wants a nuclear war, least of all Putin. He meets with his adviser with a long table between them, because he’s afraid of dying of Covid. He wants to live. Launching an ICBM means death for everyone, which he might or might not care about. But it also means death for him, which he emphatically does care about. So he’s rattling that saber, but he won’t use it.
“Our Boomers underwater will have the final say, Comrade.”
So the underwater collision was in Oct 2021. (ran into an underwater mountain, could happen to anyone)
Repairs hadn’t started as of March 2023.
And the expected completion of repairs is Sept 2025.
With that sort of seamanship and logistics support, I’m totally re-assured.
Working test has yet to be achieved - Putin ordered them ready so they are

The next major phase of Russia’s ICBM moderniza-tion will be the replacement of the SS-18 (RS-20V) with the SS-29 (RS-28) Sarmat. Satellite images show that upgrades of the first regiment (the 302nd) at Uzhur have been underway since 2021.
Three ejection tests were conducted in December 2017, March 2018, and May 2018 at the Plesetsk Space Center, involving the cold launch and test firing of the Sarmat’s first stage and booster engine.
After years of manufacturing and tech-nical delays - reportedly having to do with the missile’s command module - the first Sarmat flight test took place in April 2022.
Russia initially planned to conduct at least four additional test launches throughout 2022 to satisfy President Putin’s declaration that Sarmat would enter combat duty by the end of the year however, as of April 2023, only one additional test had reportedly taken place and, according to US officials, likely ended in failure.
Despite the lack of successful tests, in November 2022 the General Director of the Russian Academy of Sciences claimed that Sarmat had already entered serial production.

“The Sarmat strategic complex has been put on combat duty,” he said today during the “Share Your Knowledge” marathon.
Sarmat is a strategic missile system with a heavy-class liquid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile, the weight of one such missile exceeds 200 tons.
The complex is designed to replace the Voevoda missiles in service with the Strategic Missile Forces.
For the first time in the history of nuclear weapons, a strategic missile has been put on combat duty without having passed full-fledged test launches. Let me remind you that the only successful test launch of the Sarmat was carried out on April 20, 2022.
For example: the latest strategic missile for submarines “Bulava” from 2004 to 2022. was launched forty times for test purposes.
Putting a strategic missile on combat duty that has not passed full-fledged tests is, to put it mildly, irresponsible and disregard for the country’s security on the principle: “Perhaps it will not have to be launched against real targets!”
And if you have to?

But for some reason, these “successful launches” were classified. For what? It would seem, on the contrary, it was necessary to carry out a massive information campaign in the spirit of “Made by us”.
Secrets are usually failures and failures.
But in this case, “good luck” was allegedly classified.
But today propaganda of good luck is extremely necessary.
Firstly, this is necessary to show the population that everything is fine with the army, we have the second in the world.
Our latest missiles, which have no analogues, are successfully launched and hit all assigned targets.
Therefore, the country’s defense capability is ensured properly.
Secondly, in six months the presidential elections in the Russian Federation and for campaigning are urgently needed videos with rockets taking off into the sky hitting designated targets at the Kura training ground with a mandatory report from the funnel after a warhead hits.
As it was after the first successful launch in April 2022.
And thirdly, to “sworn partners”, and most importantly to their population, to clearly show that we still can do something and our situation is by no means hopeless.
But for some reason, everyone has been silent about successful test launches since April last year.
