More than 100 former clerks have signed an open letter defending Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s character and integrity. Thomas has been under a withering assault on his character as both he and his wife Ginnie have run afoul of the left’s smear machine.
Ginnie is a conservative lobbyist and the left has been trying to portray her influence on her husband as malignant. But it is the attack on Justice Thomas’s character and integrity that has spurred many of his former clerks to come to his defense.
Thomas has been under fire for accepting gifts and perks from his billionaire friend Harlan Crow, including trips to expensive resorts, private jet flights, and tickets to sporting events.
The open letter refers to Thomas as “a man of greatest intellect, of greatest faith, and of greatest patriotism,” denouncing the smears made against him.
“And these stories are malicious, perpetuating the ugly assumption that the Justice cannot think for himself. They are part of a larger attack on the Court and its legitimacy as an institution,” the letter declared. “The picture they paint of the Court and the man for whom we worked bears no resemblance to reality.”
“As his law clerks, we offer this response.”
The 112 signatories on the letter include current solicitors general, general counsels, partners at litigation firms and law professors. Three circuit court judges also signed the letter: David Stras on the 8th Circuit, Jim Ho of the 5th Circuit, and Allison Rushing, 4th Circuit.
The lawyers described Justice Thomas’ upbringing, having “descended from West African slaves and born to a young mother, not more than 20, in segregated Georgia.”

The clerks wrote how Thomas as a child later packed all his belongings in “a half-filled paper grocery bag” to live with his grandparents, who enrolled him in a segregated Catholic school run by Irish nuns.
Chief Justice Robert lacks even 1/10 of the integrity of Justice Thomas.
It is a heck of a read.
Clarence Thomas has been demonized even more since the Dobbs Abortion decision.
In fact all five justices have been subject to intimidation following that decision and Roberts admonished for not keeping them in line.
Thomas is the one justice they will never crack.

I watched those Senate hearings live. That POS Metzenbaum tried introducing unsworn slander into the record and Specter shut him down by threatening perjury investigations.
The “high tech lynching” started by Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden over three decades ago, continues to this day.

but...one time I stumbled upon Biden who was questioning Mr Thomas for Sup Court and my jaw dropped, literally.It was on yt and i cant find it any more maybe it was taken down.
What I heard that made my jaw drop was the invective, the rascism, the bigotry, the hatred dripping out like snake poison from Bidens mouth when he was questioning him, treating him as a human of a lower order...it was horrible. I was shocked beyond belief. I only found this about 18 mos ago.
It made me ashamed of our country
I watched Justice Thomas’s Confirmation hearing, during which then Senator Biden tried to destroy Thomas by using accusations of sexual harassment from Anita Hill.
At the time, my job included handling cases of sexual harassment, and I quickly realized Hill was just a tool Biden was using to keep an obviously Conservative candidate off the S.C.
I developed feelings of of deep disgust for Biden during those hearings, and the man’s actions as President have done nothing to ameliorate those feelings!
God bless Justice Thomas, and the Constitution he has sworn to preserve and protect!!
It boggles the mind why Justice Thomas’s character is even in question.
Justice Clarence Thomas is one of the most righteous of GOD’s children to have ever walked upon the earth. Not perfect — none of us are — but he’s a long, long way further along than me. And probably you.
Someday Clarence Thomas’s (relative) righteousness will be acknowledged on earth as it is in heaven.
Good. A favorite tactic of the left to establish authority is to produce a letter supporting a cause. Think of the 51 spies who lied about the Hunter’s lap top. It’s about time we use the tactic.
It’s obvious why the left is targeting Thomas. He’s the new Scalia and they want a SCOTUS vacancy. Obama had Scalia killed to make way for Garland. That was a close one.

The evil done to Justice Thomas and this current overall intimidation of the five-four majority that opened the floodgates for state regulation of abortion is so obvious you can cut it with a chainsaw.
