Officials in Sweetwater say an out-of-state company has made their town a dump for the seldom-seen trash created by renewable energy.

Agree 100%. Same with solar, which I have plenty of, use very effectively for making most of my own power, and can't stand the govt subsidies (I hate the govt picking winners and losers, and the tax credits just artificially inflated my prices anyway). Solar and wind on the grid is dumb anyway -- the grid should be dependable power. I have many reasons to hate the wind turbine scam.
However, at the same time I could understand someone with a self-reliant mindset setting up a few pico (small) wind turbines for himself if he lived in an area that was practical. The same with a pico hydro turbine if someone had a creek running on his property. There's something about setting it up yourself (perhaps picking a licensed electrician to at least go behind you), picking out exactly what equipment you need, and configuring it yourself for your specific energy consumption habits that makes it work much much more efficiently than when the bureaucrats figure it out "for us" in a one-size-fits-nobody plan. That is why so-called "green" energy installed in a decentralized manner seems to work well for those of us who distrust government. With us it's about reducing our dependency on government, not increasing our dependency.
There ya go! Build the wall.
Yes, a rattlesnake paradise was my first thought, as well. Open a food truck next to it and make a fortune from fried rattlesnake.
Tear down all wind turbines and use to build border wall.
Not disagreeing with that, but when even many of the founders of Greenpeace are starting to promote nuclear after seeing the ‘green’ energy alternatives being not so ‘green,’ well...
interesting, I haven’t heard about that. Yep, green energy is far far from green at all.
Not for small modular reactors. Time frame is more like 5 years. And even the old-style reactors could be built much quicker if not for the continual lawfare from the watermelon crowd.
One of more than a few: https://www.ans.org/news/article-4126/former-greenpeace-director-explains-his-support-for-nuclear-energy/
The 20 years to go online does not necessarily refer to the construction but to the delays caused by lawfare.
I have heard of smaller ones, thats still a pretty quick build, but many smaller ones coming on line faster would be a good solution.
Can you imagine a 20x10 or smaller compartmentalized nuclear power plant that could be moved to a really remote area and provide power for 20 or more years? Totally self contained power source to run a small village or a large family compound! All you would need was a source of water and a method of creating sustainable food.
They could do it now but the GOV will not allow it.
I’m hoping thorium power could be scaled down to the residential level.
From what I’ve heard these blades are not recyclable in any way. They just bury them.
Not just in West Texas. Another huge dump for them that I know of is in Casper, Wyoming. And there are at least 3 dumping grounds for them in Iowa.
In Google Maps ( Imagery 2023 ) this site is recognizable, and labeled as Global Fiberglass Solutions. However, there are no turbine blades on the grounds!
... but if you pan out, and look at a point 2.85 miles to the SSE from there, you can see a pile of blades in a perfectly square shaped pile, right along Rte 70 . Easily visible at a scale of 2000 ft, in the same frame as the GFS site.
If you zoom in a little, it’s labeled as “Global Fiberglass Solutions of West Texas” .
So, I guess this is what you’d call a “fluid situation”.
The only “green” in green energy is the color of the tax dollars we are throwing AWAY to these useless boondoggles!!
They are making stuff ‘disappear’.
Who ya gonna believe? Google or your lyin’ eyes?.................................
Id bet this is happening the world over.
