On Wednesday, October 4 at 2:20 p.m. ET, every TV, radio and cellphone in the United States should blare out the distinctive, jarring electronic warning tone of an emergency alert, accompanied by a notice along these lines:
“This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 14:20 to 14:50 hours ET. This is only a test. No action is required by the public."

That's what I do.
Cell phones are never off unless you disconnect the internal battery or its dead dead
Yes first thing in war you go after command and communications
you mean like they did in Maui
My new phone has that feature turned off. Can it be over-ridden? Probably.
Our state sends Amber Alerts even if the kidnapping happened 500 miles away.
Remembeŕ Hawaii!
“Duck and Cover”
Or as we used to say about the nuclear bomb drills in school “Duck and cover, then put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye”

, 640 and 1240 on AM dial. The radio station you listened to said tune to either of those and then went off the air.

Could be interesting.
Are they planning something we don’t know about that will happen concurrently with the *test*, and nobody will respond because they think it’s a test?

BKMRK.
Is this going to be like the Lahaina alert system? It works great until you actually need it?
I will make sure my cellphone is switched off along with all my radios and tvs.

Yeah, I get that. That isn't the point here. This is the idea that you getting a text msg from .gov and equating that to them 'taking control' of your phone. Let's say we have 300 million phones, is .gov taking control of 300 million phones because your number is on a distribution list? It's all over reach but (in my best biden mumble) c'mon man.
I guess they don’t have this in Hawaii
Yet, for the people of Lahaina, Hawaii, officials decided not to sound the alarm.
LE gave up trying to keep the ladies running the nail salon here closed and locked down.
