A Black FedEx delivery driver who says two white men shot at and chased him in Mississippi in 2022 has now been fired from his job, he and his attorney said Monday.
“I honestly feel disrespected,” the former driver, D’Monterrio Gibson, told The Associated Press shortly after he received an email from FedEx about his termination.
Meredith Miller, manager of global network communications for FedEx, confirmed Monday that “Mr. Gibson is no longer employed at FedEx,” but did not respond to other questions from AP.
Last Thursday, a Mississippi judge cited police errors in declaring a mistrial for the father and son charged in the attack. A detective testified about failing to give prosecutors and defense attorneys a copy of a videotaped police interview with Gibson.
Carlos Moore, an attorney who has represented Gibson in a civil lawsuit, provided AP with a copy of an email Gibson received from FedEx on Monday. It said Gibson’s employment was terminated July 26, and the company attempted to deliver a letter and documents to him about the termination July 31.

Mass shooting at a FedEx facility in 3....2....1....
Tried his own Jussie Smollett
He be "dissed" and he be p!ssed.
Lock and load.
Based solely on reading this excerpt only - I’m not sure I agree with Fed Ex.
The fact that cops screwed up and there was a mistrial has no bearing on whether Gibson was chased or not.
Don’t expect people to read the articles.
“Tried his own Jussie Smollett”
Apparently not. A father and son blocked him in with a pickup truck, fired shots at his truck, which was a Hertz rental instead of FedEx truck.
That father and son must not have read about the Aubery murder trial.
I'm just following a fine FReeper tradition.
Respect has to be earned, Jamal. Lying and inciting racial turmoil with lies and false accusations is hardly the way to earn respect. Shame!
Yes. It didn’t make sense.
He was fired b/c he did not accept a part time, non courier job the company offered him in July.
As far as the guilt of the other two men, who knows?
There is not enough info provided to make a good guess.
FedEx fired Gibson because he did not accept a part-time, non-courier job that the company offered in mid-July, Moore said, adding that he did not know whether the company gave Gibson a deadline to accept.“They can't tell me when I should be ready to come back,” Gibson said.
It’s never good to fire anyone on workman’s comp, but you know Fed Ex has the best lawyers available so the firing is legit.
As far as the shooting goes, he may be telling the truth, who knows. I’m wondering why the truck he was driving had Hertz logos on it. That’s strange.
No. The complete article at the link is very clear that he is telling the truth, and that this did indeed happen.
The best lawyers cost a lot more than what it would have cost to give this guy a full time pension.
I wasn’t sure until I read the whole story. Now I agree with fedex.
They have full time attorneys on payroll so they’re good.
Dude seriously milked the job for all it was worth. If he was a honkey, his white buttocks would have been fired within a month.
Sounds like he didn’t work for Fedex in the first place but a contractor which is what I use to do when they needed help during the Christmas season. They would give us the Fedex uniform then send us out in rented Hertz vans but I was never hired by Fedex. People all the time would say “Whyyyyy are you driving a rented vaaan??” And I would say because my Fedex truck exploded. lol
And the msm trying to make this a racial issue when it doesn't sound like it was.
